One thing I hope Disney realizes from the Alt Right damage to the last 2 Star Wars films is you can't just force an agenda on your audience without also having the great components of a movie around it. The Last Jedi just wasn't a strong enough film to carry the weight of such an obvious SJW agenda.

I have no evidence of this theory, but I suspect the MCU pulled back on the power of Captain Marvel in comparison to the likes of Thor and Doctor Strange due to the Star Wars backlash.

I have no problems with a female lead, I wish this were Jean Grey though. But, I think they are safeguarding this, by dropping it right before the big movie Avengers coupled with having to see it for the story.

There was an agenda so obvious, in part because of how bad the overall movie was.

I don't mind Rey being super powerful, but let's take the scenes training with Luke a little more serious. Let's have a little bit more exposition about her back story, and what Luke knows about it.

Laura Dern's character was ridiculous. Not much else has to be said there.

The Asian girl was terrible writing, but the incel stalking of her social media that happened after the movie is not cool at all.

Disney obviously took the criticism seriously as they scrapped one of their planned 3 movie Star Wars franchises, the Boba Fett standalone, and any more standalone stories after Solo bombed.

All they have planned is ep 9, the Mandalorian series, and the planned 3 movie Star Wars story written by the Game of Thrones people.

Kathleen Kennedy's workload was rightly gutted after overseeing the last two films.

Yeah, the whole timing is weird. If she had already been an established powerful character in the MCU, and was absent from A:IW, the prospect of her return in Part 2 would be more powerful.

This movie takes place in the 90s, and will explain her absence the last 10 years of MCU films.

There are also rumors this film helps to set up storylines after Avengers 4, and maybe a few subplots during the movie. I don't want to say too much here, but a poster or two has already revealed some major rumored spoilers in the Avengers Infinity War/Annihilation thread.

I think it looks terrible but Marvel MCU has earned the benefit of the doubt with me. Dr Strange looked like hot garbage but I ended up entertained. I'm going to see it but I'm not happy about it. Sort of like watching the Thor movies (except Ragnorok)
