Is that the place once on Check Please?

I'm not sure. I never saw it on there.

You may be thinking of La Palapa which is a seafood place on the South side. There's one on Harlem now too but I'm not sure it's the same.

New spot opened on Harlem between Madison and Washington in Forest Park recently, and it's pretty good. We just had some last night.

You're correct

I am imagining Mini Palapita on 'Check, Please!" on the PBS station in my mind. It is can't-miss viewing.

 That would be my pick. I'd love to make the obligatory real estate agent from Naperville and the obligatory West Loop party planner (by way of Naperville) go there. "Authentic tacos at a reasonable price." "Not a place I would normally go, but if you're in the neighborhood and hungry, be sure to stop."

And then everyone would fall all over the place to gush over some 20-25 table restaurant that's a short walk from the train station in Geneva, or how it's Loop quality and a great place to have a full day's outing replete with window shopping on the quaint streets. (with apologies to anyone here from Geneva)

I have to admit that place in Geneva looked pretty good. But if I'm gonna get loaded on 40 year old Pappy in Kane County I'm gonna need a hotel room.

Would you take a Pulte?

Oh and my picks:

1) Image
He'll give you a thick cut of meat delivered hot into your hole.

2) Image
He makes a mean street taco, then does the dishes and cuts the lawn after he's done cooking.

Swedish days was a delightful place to hang out with my now wife when we were dating. Lingonberry preserves were almost edible.

That's a lie!

Mean Wiener in Highwood has awesome tacos...including al pastor. Their's has a little pineapple mixed in with the bbq pork. Delicious.

Stop in there on Taco Tuesday...which is actually on Wednesdays.

Is Chaparrita #2 still around? It has been years since I've been down that way. That place had the most amazing tacos.

I think it was just on Check, Please! along with Reader's place in Geneva and Kitsune where I took my wife for her birthday last night.

Is that the grocery store on Kedzie & 25th? Because that was on the Chicago’s Best episode “Best Mexican #6” which included a review of that La Penca place with the Pambazo Sandwich.

I watched this episode yesterday and it was the same place recently featured on Chicago’s Best. Suffice to say, they’re gonna be getting a lot of gringos in there.

The spot in Geneva looked great, but more of a special occasion/once a year type deal. 400 different types of whiskey really piqued my interest, but then again, I’ll drink pretty much anything you put in front of me.

Me and the wife both agreed that Kitsune appeared to be disgusting. It looked like they had some type of giant worm on one of the dishes. Pretty much fast-forwarded through the rest of that segment.

Check Please has never really been my thing. Not my type of people. I’m not what you would call a classy individual.

Going to Taco Nano today, buddy. I’ll be trying the steak & el pastor.

Taco Nano
http://taconano.com

Willow road & 94

This place looked amazing on Chicago’s Best. I hope that it lives up to my expectations.

So Taco Nano was even better than I expected. The steak tacos were similar to those offered at a place called Tex Tubb’s in Madison, Wisconsin. Sizable chunks of steak with more of a Tex-Mex flavor to go along chunks of avocado, marinated onions, and cilantro. My only complaint is that the salsa verde didn’t have much of a kick, but it was still pretty damn good. I’m gonna be dreaming about this place for a while - it’s out of range, but I’ll find a way to go there maybe half a dozen times a year.

The El Pastor & Chicken were also outstanding.
