Is this really that hard to comprehend? Power hitting first baseman (i.e. a guy who will hit 20-25 homers) are extremely common.
Goldschmidt is great and it makes them better, but it's just not as significant as adding a great hitter at a position like SS, 3B, 2B, CF, or Catcher.
It's why Machado is such a big deal and more valuable than Harper (RF another position full of power hitters...not as much as 1B though)
If you are talking in baseball generalities you are correct. The Cardinals have been mediocre the past couple years largely due to the lack of a thumper in the middle of their line-up. They have that now, regardless of position.
