I watched a ton of Big 10 college hoops back then and I don't remember him.

He was a 4yr starter for IU on some pretty good teams

He was a pretty big deal back in the day. Hoosier team made it to the Final Four. Also think he went first round. Didn't last long in the NBA though.

That's too bad. My dad invited his team to come play us in seventh grade, and they beat the Christ out of us. I saw him a few times at parties on the East Side, and one of my friends (in an ill-fated imitation of Joe Piscopo, of all people) went up to him and said, "I'd like to take you on the court!"

I remember seeing him play live in high school and he was a man among boys even as an underclassman. I think SFDS had another big guy who was an upperclassman who allowed Anderson to kind of roam free while he did the grunt work in the post. My friend's mom was an administrator at SICP so we could always hang out late to play basketball on the courts after the crowd cleared. He was about the tallest guy I ever stood next to as he was walking through the gym to his team bus.

Very sad. Always seemed like a good guy.

But aside from the basketball team and contributions from parents that paid for the second or third chances for their kids, I was shocked that school was open even back then.

Should have been LaPhonso Ellis …….I favored Ray Thompson of ACHS.To set everyone straight Eric Anderson was undrafted.

wow, that's sad. As I recall, it was him and LaPhonso battling it out for Mr. Basketball.

Anyone know how he died?

just read up on this, he was having pnemeunia (sp) and that led to a heart attack.

What a shame. Didn't realize Neil Reed died as well, had a heart attack at age 36 while coaching high school.
