This is borderline propaganda, but it's nice to have hope.

I'm all for removing that horrible contract now that we have a good idea what Happ and Almora are going to be as every day players.

To get rid of Heyward they'd have to eat or take bad money 50 mil of the 100+ owned and throw in Almora, or Happ ,or possibly even Contrares.

So.....

1. Contreras to Miami for Realmuto straight up
2. Schwarber, Chatwood, Alzalay and CASH to Cleveland for Hand and Kipnis
3. Sign Harper
4. Russell, Heyward and Amaya to Texas for Profar
5. Sign Lucroy

Now you've got something to work with

Profar 3b
Baez SS
Bryant LF
Rizzo 1b
Harper RF
Kipnis 2b
Realmuto C
Almora CF

Happ, Z, Bote and Luc on the bench.

Lets go Theo.....gut the roster already!!

Let's be honest here:

Cubs have multiple bad money contracts

Depleted farm system

Holes in starting rotation

Homer or nothing offense

Drunk manager

I'm not hitting the panic button, but that's a lot of shit to overcome

why would anyone want Bryce Harper? He is the last thing Im hoping for.

He is a proven loser in this league.

He is another Schwarber.

He is the Carmelo Anthony of baseball.

I'd say ya have to eat half of the 106 million due over the next 5 years and throw in a caratini.

Also don't forget that evidently they lacked veteran leadership according to their own GM.

wait, we are back to sub fans thinking caratini is a desirable piece in a trade?

Sox got back a middle reliever for a catcher who has shown much more as an MLB starter with four years of control remaining.

You wouldn't have to toss in any extra players if you paid half of Heyward's salary. Gold glove, .280 hitter, solid all around player with the "untapped potential" for $10mil per? Sign me up.

You don't think a few teams would like to have Heyward and caratini for 11 million a year?

Heyward appealing to other teams, if the Cubs eat half his salary(with no quality throw in)? I think 10.6 million a year for 5 years signing Heyward would be an over pay right now. He's 28, and plays like 38. His swing is fucked up. His outfield range is declining. His yearly averages with the Cubs; batting average is 252, ops 688, hr 9, rbi 55 for the regular season. Post season with cubs 7/68-103 batting average. How many post season rbi with the Cubs in 68 ab? If you guessed 1 your right!

No.

A starting gold glove outfielder for 10 million is a bargain.

If Heyward were a Free agent right now, he'd get more than 10 per year.

In light of Cutch contract I guess so.

McCutchen is nowhere close to his peak but he's still good. 20 homers, .368 obp and solid defense.

I am just getting too old and crabby. I can't tell what is worth how many millions anymore.

Teams would line up to sign Heyward at $10-12/yr x 5.

Correct. This board doesn't have a wealth of intelligent baseball posters.

Who are these teams that would sign a career offensive under-achiever to a multi-year deal for the sole purpose of his defense in RF and base running skills?

I would argue the list is small - teams that have crazy/high payrolls could overpay for the services of a defensive/role player type in RF, but most teams probably wouldn't commit 5 years under any circumstances if he was on the market right now.
