I've got Mahomes as the leader far and away still, especially with Brees barely being able to put up 200 against the Tampa and Carolina defenses. I'd probably even take Rivers over Brees at this point, with Wilson rounding out the top 4.

Of course, Brees will probably end up with his lifetime achievement award all the same (especially with the stunning logic used by NFL execs for their picks), even though if his and Mahomes' stats were switched there'd be no debate about who should get it.

If Mack isn’t a top 3 candidate, and he won’t be, they should just rename it to The Best QB Award.

Brees has also had a great season and his team will have a bye throughout the playoffs. There is a chance the Chiefs could lose their division. Brees has protected the ball and has a higher QB rating at 90 years old.

Of course Brees had a great season. Mahomes also has his team in position for a bye, his stats dwarf Brees's stats, and the Chiefs were expected to be a non playoff team by Vegas this year while NO was expected to be SB contenders. There's no case for Brees.

I figured that you would bring up Rodgers but Brees isn't stat chasing. I think how the Chiefs finish the season will play a role in who win. Mahomes is playing at a level where he could win every year. That's why I think that voters will give Brees a retirement award.

Mack can be in the conversation but his season hasn't been transcendent like Mahomes' has.

Is Mack even having the best defensive performance this year? Or is his inclusion a given because he's been on TV every week here in Chicago?

If you're just box score hunting it's easy to say Donald is having a better year. When you think of MVP candidates, I don't see how one can put Donald over Mack. Mack transformed the entire franchise and the defense quite frankly isn't very good when he misses time or isn't in "game shape".

The Texans for example went from a bottom-10 defensive unit last year to a top-10 unit this year. Coincidentally (or not), JJ Watt has returned to his previous year's of production.

The two games Mack was out (and the one he was hobbled) are the best argument for Mack. They looked like a completely different team with him out. They have some other good players, but he makes them aaaaaallll look better. And his aggregate stats will only include 13 games, basically.

I am stating Chicagoans may be overvaluing Mack when comparing him to other players and their seasons around the league because they are primarily watching the Bears every week.
