Gotta expect that these guys produce more this season.

Bryant
Contreras
Russell
Darvish
Schwarber
Happ

Baez should dip, Zobrist too.

Almora needs to put 2 halves together.

Bryant will be great if he's healthy.

Happ will cut down on his strikeouts...hopefully.

Contreras will be fine. He's just gotta get better behind the plate.

The question marks are:

Schwarber
Short stop
Pitching
Leadoff

I just got a report from an app of mine that the Cubs are attempting to find room for Bryce Harper. This isn't exactly confirmed, but still could be interesting. However, I'm wondering what everyone here thinks about this and about the other two pickups we've had this off-season.

ya i have the same app, it's called mlb.com.

let's see if they're really serious and if he really wants to sign.

Dodgers are a quick private plane ride to his home in LV. I think they're the front runners on this.

I read Harper / Agent are waiting for Theo to cut payroll which means Heyward. Not going to happen.

Or the Cubs have had the money all along but didn't want to contribute to bumping up Harper's price the entire way through December. Or, you know, basic negotiation ploys.

What a difference a couple years have made. 2 years ago Milwaukee and Cincinnati were rebuilding patsies that the Cubs could reasonably expect to dominate in the regular season. Now, the Brewers are their top rival for the division, with St. Louis again likely to contend and the Reds with some additions that may help them considerably. The N.L. Central is going to be one hell of a strong division. Theo had best get busy adding to the bullpen while there are still some good additions to be made. I don't need Machado or Harper. If they want to take a flyer on Tulowitski, I like that idea. He is said to be healthy and it would be a low risk, high reward move. I see this team playing more to their potential this year, with everyone knowing that every win is going to be important and they can't afford to coast and just turn it on late in the season. 2019 is going to be a fun season.

Gordan Wittenmeyer is saying the Cubs trying to move payroll for Harper push. It has to be Heyward. Theo has to really put together an appealing cash/other young talent offer to pull this off. They're going to have to unload a top prospect, if they have one left from this mess. Hate to see Almora go. The ripple effects of the Jason Heyward contract fiasco are huge.

No reliable closer....need bullpen help....probably are going to need a starter....so go get Harper.

@jwyllys: I was convinced that Tulowitzki made a lot of sense for the Cubs. Their seeming inactivity with nearly all free agents not named Bryce Harper is almost enough to tempt one into thinking something’s afoot.

Couldn't that same logic apply to most other teams? Nobody is spending money right now and those who are have been on short-term deals.

Why is it that Theo and Jed just CANNOT hire a guy that they have no previous ties with?

Why cant they trust an outsider.

Fuck Loretta. He was never a Cub and he sucks.
