Simple topic to start, though we can expand from there: most people have a favorite sport and usually a somewhat close second favorite. What’s the biggest difference that separates it for you?

For me, I love basketball and football but the way the leagues are set up makes me NFL #1 for me. A guy like Mahomes will stay in KC forever, Favre/Rodgers in GB, etc. that’s really the only reason I like it more than the nba where small market teams have almost no chance for that.

Football and baseball. Baseball used to be #1 by a mile but I don't get to watch as many games as I would like anymore.

1) Baseball- it's not something I can explain, but I just love watching the game. It is really the anticipation of what might happen on any given pitch vs the more active sports.

2) Hockey- The game flows so well. Each goal is a huge moment.

That being said, I always found football and basketball incredibly fun to play, especially basketball.

There is nothing better than football. Perfect season length. Great games all weekend. I love fall weather too which makes it all the better.

A distant second is basketball but it isn't nearly as good and I only follow college basketball anyways.

It used to be baseball then football, but once I started playing golf and having some mild success with it, I absolutely fell in love with the game.

He is correct with the season length though. 16 games is perfect, and the way the NFL does playoffs is pretty good as well. None of this half the league gets in or a silly one quarter playoff like the Wild Card game in MLB.

Huge difference between 1 and 2. First 20 years of my life I loved the big 3. Since then it's been more and more baseball focused.

It's skill level for me. The great baseball and basketball players are artisans.

Basketball
Football/baseball

Football is easier to watch/follow, like Rick said. I'd definitely play baseball over watching it anytime between April - July. I believe in baseball magic during the playoffs - it's really spectacular, even more so than the NBA. I think this has to do more with the lack of long stoppages in play, unlike football and basketball. Hockey is similar.

I’m a baseball fan. I’ll watch any game, not just Cub games.

I used to be a football fan. That ship sailed about 15 yrs ago. Now I’m really just a Bear fan. I’ll watch the playoffs but haven’t watched any game other than the Bear this season.

This thread is literally asking for opinions. I'm sorry you don't like football.

Put me down for all of that as well though I do watch a bit more football.

1. Football

2. Baseball

The difference is football is more watchable/addictive. And I like football playoffs more than baseball playoffs (assuming home teams not in playoffs)

It's really surprising to see how few here list football #1.

1. Baseball

2. College Football.

As Mr Reason said, Bears are probably the #1 team here for MANY. Just not the league overall.

Basketball used to be 2nd to baseball for me. There was a time when I could name every player on every team when I was a kid. Now I may go weeks without watching a game.

It's funny to look back at the Jordan era and remember that even a few of the preseason games were must see tv.

It really is. I may have missed 5 games during that run.

Same here. Basketball used to be a very close second for me, but my NBA interest has waned since the 90s for obvious reasons.

Baseball has always bored the living hell out of me.

Jordan was fun to watch no matter the circumstances. Anything I didn't get on TV, I listened to on the radio.

Baseball, Football, and Basketball are all really close for me. But if I had to pick two it would be baseball and football.
