My dad gave $100 to the greater Chicago food depository in my name instead of gifts.
That's a few meals... best gift I got.

My mom was discharged from the hospital Sunday evening and seemed to be doing relatively well today.

That was the best gift our family, as a whole, received.

That’s great Tad. If the mods stopped having mults and trolling that’d be awesome.

Well, a loved one is worth more than anything someone could buy for you.

I was at a conference back in September or October and there was a lab session -- I finished in first place for my session (we're happy for you!) but because I did, they gave me a small drone that you control through your phone. It is maybe 8 inches square. So our youngest wanted more expensive stuff now as older kids tend to do, and he knew he was only getting two things, but I wrapped this thing up and threw it under the tree as a third present. He had no idea what it was and has played with it and showed it off all day to his cousins. He'll probably be bored with it after another couple of plays, but that is probably two more than I would have enjoyed it for, so happy to give an unexpected and well received gift.

Also picked out a fleece half-zip up top for my stepdaughter without checking in with any one else on whether it would be acceptable or not, and she wore it the whole day, so I feel like I did pretty well there too.

Kids got me an Amazon HD8 tablet-type unit for reading books (instead of my tiny phone) and bluetooth ear buds. Oldest got me an air chuck/gauge combo.

we just gave the kids cash this year, many options for them.

I had my kids give my husband a what I love about dad book. Some of the answers were really great and he really loved it. Even better, they got me socks and now I can kind of go out and buy whatever I want. Win-Win Christmas for me.

A fuel leak for my car ... and now a brake line failure to go with it - a matching set! :aaargh:

Once the kids opened their toys and were playing with shit, my wife pulled me upstairs for a quickie. She never does stuff like that.

So many gifts to be happy and lucky about. Gave this year is 20 oz Yeti and a handle thing from my daughter. First gift to me with her cash from a real job. She was very happy to get it for me for all info for her. The spirit was in it.
