I say a hybrid approach. Watch the scoreboard and if the Ram is way ahead of the 49er then pull the starters in the 2nd half.

I think anytime you can eliminate a division rival from the playoffs, you do so. They can run a basic offense so as not to show too much, but you play to win the game.

Play them. Last time we let a division rival into the playoffs it came back to bite us -it’s also important to carry momentum into the playoffs too. That’s been proven to be true more often than not.

Rest them and let Nagy go crazy with his offensive game plan. Give the team they face in the first round a bunch of fake plays to think about that he knows he will never use or play 80% of the game in the Iform.

Only takes one sprain, tear, broken bone, late hit (see first Vikings game) or concussion to ruin our season. Not worth it to knock out the Vikings.

Eagles and Vikings are fairly equal opponents.

I almost lost my shit when Hicks was laying on the ground writhing in pain and when Fuller stayed down. Sit most of the defense, Get (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky reps with 1st team if we have the lead after the first half keep the offense in.

Small caveat: I also think they'll have someone constantly updating them on the Rams score, if they start pulling away I think Nagy will pull everyone.

Vikings have the edge over the Eagles because they would have already faced the Bears twice. Eliminate the Vikings.

I've gone back and forth on this a few times. As a noon game, i was going to treat it like preseason game 4, and try to win 9-7. But now as a 3:25pm game, I think I play the starters in the first half and try and get a big lead, because I'd rather not see the Vikings two weeks in a row. I just wouldn't do any RPO or anything that could get Mitch or Cohen killed.

In the second half, once the Rams game becomes a 9+ point lead, I'd pull (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky, Cohen, Mack, and Hicks.

Play to eliminate the Vikings. As for the Rams, the 49ers are too banged up offensively to put up much of a fight. So I don't think that's really a factor.

They're playing a division opponent so that will motivate them.

That's probably the answer. I also would expect that the game plan won't be as "creative", even in the 1st half unless they want to go for the kill and knock the Vikings out of the playoffs, in Week 17.

The Rams/49ers game will probably dictate whether the pedal is pressed or let up.

Do we have any stats on team that play a divisional opponent a 3rd time (at home) in the playoffs? It feels like a reasonable thought - the Vikings are more aware of the Bears players/tendencies, etc. which would give them an advantage over the Eagles, but I am curious as to how history shows this.

Unlikely, probably more likely that they score 30+ and win comfortably.

Going half-assed doesn't work and usually gets people injured. Either go full bore and don't look back or start the second string.

If they decide to play it by ear, they at least shouldn't let the players know ahead of time that they may be pulled.
