Hot dog! Pappy's gonna spending some quality time with a word processor! From Stella Foster's column in today's Chicago Sun-Times:
JUST IN: Score radio's colorful personality Mike North has just signed a two-book deal for six figures with Triumph Books. One will be about sports and the other -- his autobiography. There is already talk about a possible screenplay and movie based on the latter.

Overheard at Gibson's a few months from now:

HIM: How's your drink?
HER: Mmm, great, and I love the cute little coaster!
HIM: Yeah, it's shiny. Almost looks like a CD or something. What's it say on it?
HER: Caucasian Man by Mike North. What's that?
HIM: I have no idea. You know, the little tray the hors d'oeuvres are on is kind of different, too.
HER: Yeah, it kind of looks like a book! Hey, it says 'Mike North" on it, too.
HIM: Hmmm, Mike North, Mike North??? Doesn't ring a bell. Must be some guy who makes novelty coasters and trays and stuff.

Let the speculation begin. Who will play Mike North in the movie version of his life story? Only stupid-looking pasty actors need apply.

Well I see the person who gave Mikey his last contract got a job in the Book business.

I dont believe for a second that it's six figures, that sounds a Bebe plant to me. Secondly, a movie? No! I wonder if Stella Foster actually confirms this crap or she just laps it up like a puppy when Mike or Bebe calls her.

I am going to give a call to my buddy who does work with Triumph, see what he can find out, because this I dont believe for a second. I know Triumph is a sports type publisher, but there is now way I see them doing a deal like that.

If the story was ghostwritten I think it would be a great read. Mike has lead a diverse and interesting life. Many of you fail to take into account the entire body of work the man has produced.

GD, I agree, but I am willing to bet that he loads that book up with the same stories we have heard for years.

I guess because he assumes his audience can't read either....

He assumes his audience doesn't know how to operate a computer, so why not?

Sadly, I do believe it. I hate Mike North and his show and everything about him with a passion, but the one thing he can do is convince other people in Chicago media that he is somehow the voice of the Chicago fan and the "real Chicago guy." Those of us who know better know what a fraud and an ignoramus he is and are embarrassed by him. Fortunately for him, there are people at the Score, NBC, WGN, Comcast, Triumph Publishing, and on and on and on, who think he has something to offer.

Mike, kudos. I do just fine, but I'm sure you have a far bigger house and bank account than I do. You still suck.

Jesse Rogers, Fritzy or Knuckles.

It'll talk about either stories of soliciting whores, of the "World Tour" or of some race-baiting incident.

Also of what a "great guy" Mikey is, and how fame and fortune never changed him

From what I have been told, this "deal" and six figures are based on sales, so I dont think Mikey will be seeing much from this best seller. Word is that he isnt the only one they are talking to about a book either, a few radio people have been approached and made similar offers.
