It looks like my dance card is open for both for the first time in a long time. My NYD crew, which had been a staple for at least a decade, is crumbling this year. One friend has been out of a job for a while and has to work that day. Another just got divorced and has the kids. A third wasn't sure he can make it and he always drives a fourth guy. Its kind of sad because NYD was the old reliable even if we didn't see each other during the holidays.

I usually either find a neighborhood party or host one on NYE. I haven't been invited to anything and my boy asked that we not host one this year, for whatever reason. I still have hope something will pop up.

I always saw these days as the capper to a social season during the holidays, followed by doldrums for a couple of months until around St. Patrick's Day. I suppose the Bears Super Bowl run will change that this year.

NYE sucks. I'll watch Ryan Seacrest and pass out.

We had a few things that we were looking to do. But between the $100+ it would cost to board the dog and the fact that this will be our first NYE/NYD in our house, we decided to stay in and have two other couples over.

No plans at all. We had access to a cabin up in Door County but have only been home two weekends since Thanksgiving and running all over the place so
it will be nice to just be home. My wife and I usually go through the past year and kind of recap what we did, goals met, etc... and then look ahead and
start looking at the calendar and events we need to be at through the first half of the year at least. We'll put a couple of new goals out there and look at how the finances are and if we need to make any changes. Looking forward to watching the college football playoffs and maybe a few other bowl games.

I've always had a lot of fun staying in the neighborhood. The brother of my closest friend used to host so it started with people I really want to hang out with for 4-5 hours. He has now missed the last couple of years. We hosted last year. It was more of my wife's friends than mine because she is closer to people in the neighborhood.

Taking the kids to a Kids New Year's eve thing at dinner time...then home.

Going to South Bend for the Winter Classic on Tuesday.

Working M-W nights, truck brake project for waking hours. Some year-end inventories to gather, otherwise, just another week.

I could see it if you could stay local. Most of ours were bars or hotel ballrooms.

2/3 day at work, grilling burgers, having a fire, and MANY drinks with a couple friends. Hoping I can stay up until midnite. We'll probably do a 7:00 or 8:00 countdown for AJ before he goes down for the night.

NYD day is nothing. Some housework and maybe take down some of the Christmas stuff. My wife is off on Thurs and Fri so I'm hoping she can take most of that stuff down because I legitimately get sad when the Christmas stuff gets packed away.

wife's sister is bringing the whole family for four days since she can't stand to be trapped in the house with her depressed alcoholic husband. Good times to ensue.

I'm going out for an early dinner and then home to binge watch Game of Thrones. Trying to catch up before the new season starts.

Not sure that being trapped in the house for four days with you is a viable alternative.

Gather with friends and family on a beach in Florida. It’s better than Christmas.

When I graduated eighth grade in 1977 there were guys in my class that seriously dressed like that for the ceremony.

I had on a light beige three-piece suit (picture Travolta) with a burnt orange faux silk shirt and burnt orange shoes with three inch heels. That was conservative.

So I'm sure you can imagine what it was like having 4 older brothers from that era, and wearing their "special occasion" hand-me-downs years later.

Surprised to see you here Bob.

I assume families did not hold applause until after every name was called.

A friend posted an all class picture from that year. I may have been the only guy in a suit. And I blame my dad for my wearing tube socks.
