I thought it was great.

The last third of the movie is perfect, and I'd put the underwater battle at the end up against any major fight scene the MCU has ever done.

A high bar for sure.

Also, this scene was beautifully shot:

Orm's costume design was badass.

See it in 3D, or no?

Visually it was great, just like Black Panther.

I had way more fun watching Aquaman than Black Panther.

I agree. I felt Black Panther was more so a, standalone/let's try to get a new fanbase. Aquaman seems like a soft reboot.

I agree about the visuals. It was very colorful and it reminded me of those old innocent serials in b/w.

I liked the characters too. The villains were pretty good. And the main characters were not too serious in this role and you could tell they were having fun w/ it.

I liked that I saw it on the big screen. I think when it comes to tv, it won't look as good.

The movie was just bland, run of the mill comic book story telling.

The acting was horrible. The writing was cheesy. The story was formulaic hero story. It kept my interest enough. It wasn't bad enough to be bad nor good enough to be good.

Yes, but you already didn't like comic book movies before you saw this.

That's not true.

Every character shouldn't be made into a movie.

I like the Avengers, Ironman, Captain America, X Men, Black Panther and am really looking forward to Glass. I was a huge fan of the Dark Knight movies.

Many of the movies are boiler plate stories where you could plug in any hero. Those offend me for movies with such big budgets. I wish the comic loving community would have more discretion, not be such a reliable audience and reject the ones with bad story telling. I wouldn't have seen Aquaman if I didn't have kids. I would with the others I list above.

The Spider Man reboots are a good example. I was excited for the first and now I won't even bother seeing them

I rented it and managed to get through about 2/3 of it. I agree with Good Dolphin on this one and I'm definitely as big a comic book movie guy as anyone who posts here. I knew it was going to be meh as soon as Aquaman uttered his first line of the movie, "permission to come aboard". Most cheese I've ever seen on a submarine. I knew that the writing was going to be shit if that was the first zinger they hit us with. Through 2/3 of the movie that prediction was correct. I'll go back and re-watch and finish when it's available for free.

The entire premise of Aquaman never really fit with me.

Who would've thought Dolph Lundgren would be in two of the biggest movies of 2018?

Of course you shut the movie off before the great parts happen.

On HBO right now.

I still put the big battle at the end up against any other comic book movie climax.

I finished this now that it was free. it was ok at best, not bad but definitely not something I would describe as good. A step below Wonder Woman for sure, actually several steps.
