that game deserved to end 0-0... city dominated possession most of the first half but generally did nothing with it, liverpool dominated possession most of the second half but did nothing with it. when mahrez walked up for that penalty i was like "WTF?!" and suffice to say that sentiment did not end there. on the spanish channel they showed a graphic with 2 penalty makes and 3 penalty misses, so i guess he's 2/6 now? yikes.

both teams played without the quintessential staple of british football: urgency, and it seems like both were quite alright with a draw. because of the draw liverpool technically dropped down to 3rd place behind both chelsea and city on GD, and now that's 4 in a row without a win for them (0-2-2). salah looks like he wants to do the things that he did last year but they're just not working.

and hey arsenal handled business once again; lacazette had two classy goals at 0-0 and 1-1 to set up arsenal, then aubameyang iced it with two bits of clinical later on in the match. oh yeah and aaron ramsey had another one of his aaron ramsey moments where he pulled a backheel highlight reel goal out of his ass in the middle of a 5-1 blowout so everyone can see his !!! goal and be like "DUDE WE NEED TO KEEP THIS GUY!!!!" --- IIRC his last highlight reel goal was later on in a 4-1 europa league game last year, so to uncork a proper !!! goal in the middle of a blowout = c'est la ramsey. the main reason arsenal won this game today was that they were the team with alexandre lacazette.

It's hilarious seeing "failure to develop young players" as one of the reasons being presented for Mourinho's firing. Anyone who's ever had that as any kind of high priority should've known better than expecting that from him in the first place. It's hard to tell whether Ed Woodward is more dumb or disingenuous for trying to pass that one off to the press, especially when there are so many more completely valid reasons for getting rid of Mourinho anyway.
