I see there are a couple usual suspects that want to pose as Steelers experts. Okay I’ll watch.

Mike what’s up with this ? AB is a real piece of work huh ? Fucking diva.

Steelers receiver Antonio Brown did not play in the season-ending game against the Cincinnati Bengals because he elected to sit out practice last week after an unspecified heated dispute with a teammate, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has learned.

Several sources said the Steelers’ decision to not play Brown against the Bengals had nothing to do with any type of knee injury.

The disagreement occurred Wednesday morning during a routine walk-through practice that precedes their regular afternoon practice on the South Side. Brown became disgusted and threw a football in anger at one of his teammates, several sources said.

After that, Brown did not practice the rest of the week. According to a source, it was Brown’s decision not to practice with his teammates.

He did not attend Saturday’s walk-through practice and skipped the Saturday night meeting at the team hotel — the latest in missed meetings by the All-Pro receiver. Brown was never on the field for the start of the game against the Bengals and left Heinz Field at halftime, according to multiple sources.

According to several sources, Brown showed up at Heinz Field expecting to play against the Bengals. That surprised several players, including one who called the situation “embarrassing” and “the worst I’ve seen.” That player said the entire situation and the way it was handled affected his desire to play in the game.

Brown did not practice all week and was listed as questionable on the injury report before the game. When he did not practice on Wednesday, the reason listed on the official report was “coaches decision.” On Thursday, the reason was listed as “coaches decision/knee.”

When offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner was asked about Brown after Thursday’s practice, his short reply was, “I’m not going to answer any questions about Antonio. Next.”

Tomlin said after Friday’s practice that Brown was having his knee tested because his All-Pro receiver “didn’t feel comfortable enough to [practice].” But several sources indicated Brown’s knee wasn’t an issue at all and was never tested.

Brown never even tried to test his knee in pregame warm-ups, despite Tomlin indicating his status for the Bengals would be a game-time decision.

At least one teammate phoned Brown in the days leading up to the game, but he did not return the call.

At least one player indicated after the game Brown’s absence could have cost the Steelers a victory against the Bengals.

Brown finished with 104 receptions for 1,297 yards. He led the NFL with 15 touchdown receptions, which is a team record. He topped 10,000 yards receiving in the first game of the past season. But it was fellow wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster who was voted team MVP.

He and Smith-Schuster became only the sixth tandem in NFL history to each have 100 catches and 1,000 yards receiving.

But Brown has been involved in some controversies and confrontations this year. He verbally accosted two members of the media and, in response to what he felt was a slight from a former member of the Steelers PR department, he responded on social media, “Trade me let’s find out.”

Brown also was accused of throwing furniture from the 14th-floor balcony of a Florida luxury apartment complex in April while in a rage about a missing $80,000 and gun, according to a lawsuit and police reports.

In the past I would have said trade him to the Bears but we don't need that type of diva in the locker room.

I can’t believe Tomlin tolerated any of this bullshit. Sounds like he enabled it . Maybe he does need to go.

I can't either. He's tried to discipline him in the past but maybe Brown is above his pay grade. Regardless of talent sometimes players like him aren't worth the headache when you are trying to win.

Yes BR and Nas. AB has been a little more like this every year it seems. He’s obviously great and really proved draft folks wrong. But Dancing with the Stars and all this has been growing.

He seems really put out to have to share the spotlight with JuJu

That was absolutely it the first part of the season. He called out Ben and the OC. Seems weird he can’t get that if he is double teamed especially with Bell out that JuJu gets more. Anyway he has been a jag.

What are the Steelers going to look like next year, no Bell and should be no Brown and every year retirement talk with Roethlisberger gets louder.

FWIW this season Ben said he wants to play a few more. He usually doesn’t. You can replace Bell. Fixing the AB situation and the LBs are keys I think.

Not an argument. Kind sir, I beg of you to please use Reason instead of virtue signaling and insulting people with responses like the one you just made.

Really disappointing about AB. If he just ditched the game because he was pissed then there's no way he can come back. He abandoned his team during a must win situation. No excuses.

That’s the only reason you attacked Roethlisberger. As Jorr has noted you are a virtue signaling wind-up toy. If you read the article at all you would see Brown acting like an ass. There is one reason why you responded like you did. It’s honestly beyond condescending.

Yep and having to pull Ben stuff from 10 plus years ago is funny also. His wife and 3-4 kids and life lately stand as quality independent of his past bar crawl youth. Additionally past bar/women/other behavior not team related seems a weird connection to try and make anyway.

Mindreading. Kind sir, please make an argument instead of dragging down the quality of discourse on this fine forum.

Appeal to authority. Please try to make an actual argument.

And I merely referenced the actions of the guy he had an alertercation with, nothing more nothing less. Would you like me to link an article about Ben?

More mindreading (while accusing little old me of being condescending no less).

I fear you may be unable to sustain an actual argument. I recommend taking a class on Reason and Logic so you may engage your fellow posters on this forum in a more fruitful manner.

Did you likewise find the article Toxic posted largely about Brown being an ass to the media also a "weird" connection to make to team-related stuff? Or was that completely relevant to the current situation?

I'd also add as far as on the field stuff goes, I'm pretty sure it was Ben and not AB who literally just got an OC fired a year ago.

Yes. 2x SB winning qb gets OC fired. Same guy following year fired in Cleveland mid season for being a dumbass. Any more questions?

You didn't answer my first question. Is off the field stuff relevant only when it concerns Brown?

Also would you likewise be praising Brown if he had been the one who got Haley canned? For some reason I tend to think giving ultimatums to get a coach fired would usually constitute diva behavior (hell look at the criticism of Rodgers this year), but I guess Ben just gets to be held to a different standard.

What the Steelers need is a "Khalil Mack" on defense(no shit Sherlock, yeah I know). Or maybe they need another young James Harrison. They are already 28 million under the cap next year projected and they can clear another 15 million if they trade/cut Brown after June 1st.

I think it's a lock they will throw a record contract at Javedeon Clowney. Especially with RB(Conner) and WR(Smith-Schuster) on cheap rookie deals.

Zeph is something huh. Would be nice to just talk shit around here without a bunch of white guys trying to be all racially sensitive. The black guys here (minus one because that’s all he does) can clue us in when things are amiss. They are kinda experts. Always makes me laugh how left political white guy knows all about how we should deal with the struggle. GFY.
