I am gonna guess, he doesn't sign with being told he is starting. And they have too much depth at 3B and 2B for him or anyone else to slide to another position. Maybe this is why Machado unfollowed the YES network....LOL

Like I said, a hole at 3rd. Hernandez at 2nd ISN'T a hole. Logically, Philly would want Manny to play 3rd because it makes the infield markedly better. The moves you suggest makes the infield marginally better.

But with how much Machado has talked about wanting to play SS, I just think that will be part of the deal.
