Arent you a farmer too? Typing teacher sounds like a good job.

It’s really more of a hobby.

You should take up throwing money in a burn barrel as a hobby.

It's more efficient.

I was referring to teaching typing.

They’ve priced the little guy out of new equipment. That’s by design. Make it tougher for the family farm to afford what the corporate farms can just write off. The crops we grew last summer
Weren`t enough to pay the loans
Couldn`t buy the seed to plant this spring
And the Farmers' Bank foreclosed
Called my old friend (((Schepman)))
Up to auction off the land
He said,"John, it`s just my job
And I hope you understand."

After we started talking about this, I went to see what a combine is going for these days. It's been a few years since I'd looked at it.

It's in the $500-$750k range based on an old News-Gazette article from 2014. Jesus Christ.

We never were foreclosed on but that song hit scary close to home to a young Dr. Ken at the time.

Lot of that going on around us as Dr. Ken Sr. kept things going.

The killer part of equipment these days are the electronics. They are just flat out always going wrong and god help you if you have an electrical harness issue. I’ve had to repair the computer on one tractor three times in 5 years. It’s not tons of money to fix but I gotta tell you, touch screen is not the right tool for the environment and everything is on that damn screen.

The combine in and of itself is ridiculous. Add a corn head and a Draper head and it’s just silly. I’m in early stages of pricing one and I’m not sure how many hours it’s going to need on it to pencil it. Im not sure how anyone does really. The operating and equipment loans some of these big guys take on is insane to me.

I prefer the job to when I worked at CBOT. It’s better than my short term research job for BLM. There are times however that I wonder what the hell im doing it for besides that you gotta do something and I’m not ready to paint water colors. If one was to retire and sell they should have done it 4 years ago. That said, I don’t regret this choice.

I can't believe they do a touch screen in a farming environment.

We have to get specialized touch screens in a manufacturing environment and those don't work for shit either. And that's an indoor, more controlled environment.

No, I'm not Jaden Smith. I may be involved in the pee proof underwhere business from the fetishist point of view.

Will not get technical,I listen to the people you talk to on the phone and grade them. So when you call in for say Amazon customer service and they say this call may be recorded for quality and testing purposes. I am the asshole listening in making sure they tell you thank you at least 5 times and try to up sell you on the latest product or they get fired.

An old (well, they’re all old now) White, nice.

I traded in a mower conditioner 4 years ago on a new one. The old one is still on lot. Surprised the dealer still talks to me.
