Well, unfortunately ‘tis the season to deal with this topic. As is with all successful teams, the run on winning coordinators begins now (I still think the NFL needs to curb this shit till after the SB but whatever)

So, who ya got in mind?

Me, I’m thinking Ed Donatell. He’s already here, knows this defense and is someone the players most likely are already comfortable with and respect. I believe he also has prior D-coordinator experience as well. I just don’t know if he follows Vic and becomes his coordinator if Vic leaves.

What say you..?

Donatell makes the most sense but my guess is Fangio would try to bring him and the entire staff with him. He's been with Fangio since he was in San Francisco.

Jaguars looked set up to be dominant for years on defense as well. All glory is fleeting.

I don't blame Bears fans for thinking this looks like the beginning of an extended window of contending, it looks that way on paper, but you never know how these things unfold. This season might be the best shot they ever have with Mack and Mitch to win a Super Bowl.

While I’m not interested in him coming here.. lack of talent and shit drafting hurt the Packers Defense more than his coaching. That said, I think Capers is a good defensive coach, but the game may have passed him by a little.

Rob Ryan is average imo. He’s most likely better off as a position coach. I think Rex is a damn good coordinator but his ego would get the better of him and he’d constantly try to get cameras in front of him here with his antics which would wear thin after a season or two if not earlier.

That said, I think this defense is currently built for aggressive play calling and he’d provide that. Still, I’m not crazy about bringing him here. Too much circus potential.

Cannot play with them, cannot win with them, cannot coach with them. Can't do it. I want winners. I want people that want to win.

Absolutely.

With Nagy firmly establishing himself I don't see a scenario where Bill comes to Chicago, but you gotta think that Brady/Belichick/Kraft thing is gonna end here in the next few years.

Let's hold the horses on Nagy. So far he's as successful as Dick Jauron.

Vegan, you know the meatball is strong in Chicago, and on CFMB.

I'm sure MANY would take Nagy right now over Belichick.

That's just about the laziest comparison one could ever make.

For the record, Dick Jauron was 6-10 in his first season and showed zero indication he was changing the culture of the team overnight or drastically improving the side of the ball he was brought in to drastically improve.

If you can't see how good of a job Nagy has done this year as head coach the NFL may not be the league for you my friend.

Jauron had one playoff appearance as HC of the Bears. Nagy has one appearance as HC of the Bears. I expect Nagy's success to continue but, even though it's meatball season, Nagy hasn't "firmly established" himself only one year into his tenure.

Sheeeeit.. id fire Nagy tomorrow and kill the playoffs this year if it meant landing Billy B in the offseason.

I do like Nagy tho. But I’m wondering who he turns to for coaching the defense if he loses Fangio? What connections -if any- does Nagy have around the league? He doesn’t seem like a dumbass to me, and he’s witnessed 1st hand what this defense can do for this team. I’d like to think Nagy has a plan if this happens.

Meatball answer: hell yes

Reasoned answer: too early to tell but early signs are positive. Caldwell has a SB appearance and went the playoffs 4/7 times.

I think that Donatell becomes Vic's DC. I think they would get Steve Wilks with the understanding that Wilks has to groom a replacement if he is going to go after another HC job.
