If you really believed what Bruce wrote, you would have to conclude that Machado spent an entire day here just to get a free steak because they couldn't have been here based on a verbal commitment to some mutually acceptable terms

I didn't say I believed him. But he is a journalist supposedly. If Machado signs over 7 years with the Sox, he looks foolish. Now, it wouldn't be the first time, but I doubt he takes being wrong(on something like this) lightly.

An hour ago Jayson Stark reports Yanks and Phills have focused on bullpen help. Now Nightengale reports an official contract has been offered by Sox. Interesting timing of both reports.

Let's wrap this thing up. We're in the middle of a rebuild. Can't have one guy slowing our roll. Got the bullpen and the Abreu situation to deal with. My point...was Bruce "reported" the Sox wouldn't dare offer a 10 year contract to Machado or Harper. That's not much in the way of reporting...it's kind of a big "No Shit, Bruuuuuuuuce".

I'll take it a step further....here's my insider info...."Sources tell W that any reports of the Sox offering a nine year contact to either Machado or Harper are complete fiction".

The only team dumb enough to offer Harper 10 years is the Nationals.
