We are having people over. Always do for the outdoors game as the kids love it (they all run around like crazy people). It’s a great good time.

Awesome video package.

Couldn’t get out of their own end in the third.

Oh, and Forsling still sucks.

I and many others thought we really got one over on Vancouver when we traded Clendening for Forsling. Little Europeans, they'll burn ya, huh.

We are celebrating Christmas with my family today so the game being on is a wonderful background. My Dad will call Toews "Toes" and tell me how all great players are great skaters. He'll then tell stories about playing pond hockey in Hegwisch in the 60s and 70s with all my uncles.

That sounds like a perfect "Christmas", DAC. Hope you all enjoyed your day and you cherished the time with your pops.

Same here. Those jerseys are terrific. I purposely waited to get one knowing full well the price will drop after the game. Going to be watching the prices...

I wasn’t a big fan of the jersey but I can see how some might be.

I've gotten the last 2 stocking caps. They end up being less than 10$ after the game hype dies down. I kind of want the hoodie from this year.

After nearly vomiting after reading Lazerus's player-friendly, fluff article yesterday on the Athletic, Powers had an excellent, 41-point rundown on the Hawks. It was critical of players and management that deserved it yet gave accolades to those who have had an excellent start to the season. I am not as big of a Powers fan as some but this was a very solid piece.

Winter Classic was a blast. 3rd period was a rough go, but what a setting. Definitely glad I went to this one. Good split of Hawks and Bruins fans and everyone from both fan bases were really cool. A lot of Whalers gear roaming the campus today. Only real downside was that it was impossible to get concessions after roughly puck drop. Getting out of there sucked. 3 plus hours back to Gurnee.

All things considered, it could have been a lot worse in every respect.

When I saw that Cam Ward was starting...I did not have a good feeling.

The event itself seemed to go off well, though obviously I wasn't privy to the concession lines and stuff. I was thinking that if it was a bomb scare and still had logistical problems, that would have been it for McDonough for botching the whole day.

Other than concessions, traffic is a South Bend area issue...that place runs like a well oiled machine getting people in and out of the stadium proper. It really was something to see and experience in person.

Well, that's the end of Brandon Davidson and Jason Garrison. Thanks, Carl Dahlstrom, could have used you in October!

EDIT: apparently it's unconditional waivers for Garrison, meaning he refused assignment to Rockford, lol.

At least you didn't have to watch Jeremy Roenick dressed up and dancing like a leprechaun during pregame.

I've been listening to Zawaski's and Neveau's Madhouse Chicago podcast over the last month and it is solid. Keep your finger ready to FF through their ads but it is a solid listen.

Seems like everyone thinks Barclays is a horrible place for hockey.

It is. It's a pain in the ass to get there from the suburbs because of some of the quirks of the LIRR (Atlantic Terminal is the end of some of the lines but not all of them so sometimes you have to transfer in Queens to get on a train that does go to Atlantic), which wouldn't be too much of a problem except all the fans live in the suburbs. The arena was built to be basketball-specific so the sightlines are terrible. The ice system was only intended for the occasional Disney/Sesame Street show, so they have PVC piping instead of copper piping, so the concrete and therefore ice don't stay cold enough for good NHL-level ice. It's been a total disaster.
