Yeah dude. How was the meal? You're alive today so you made it through it.

I'm all charm... no good looks needed.

FF, it was good enough. We actually went out since we hadn't been to a restaurant in so long. I said "fuck it" and got a cheeseburger and a shake. The shake was great, the cheeseburger was mediocre. I only ate half and I was stuffed, anyway. Still just great to get out and eat and be around people. There is a social aspect to food that can only really be appreciated when you can't eat.

When I met lyk I initially mistook him for the female hostess with crooked teeth.

Nah. Lyk is dashing.

Did you find that food tastes better without alcohol/being drunk?

I never drink with food because I like the taste of food and it seems like alcohol deadens my taste buds.

Agreed, except with wings. Beer goes perfectly with wings.

For sure. It also fills you up. Food tastes way better without it, though I do agree with RPB that there are limited exceptions with beer. Eating with booze also makes me tired.

Beer goes great with a burger as well. Red wine with pasta or a steak, etc.

If I'm having a nice Mendy's type meal, I don't get hammered but a good pairing of a drink or glass of wine can enhance the food IMO. (sorry leash)

I like water. I think it is neutral and the cold then opens up taste buds to the hot food (I don't know if that is true though).

I do drink soda with popcorn, pizza and hamburgers.

For many years now I drink water more than anything else at home. Sure many beers are consumed on weekends but water is king especially most meals. Just stopped buying soda altogether. Water, coffee and beer. What else I need?

As you can probably imagine, I rarely drank a glass or two of wine with a meal. It would have turned into 3 bottles. So you're probably right, but I can't relate.

A few years ago for my birthday, my wife and I went to the casino in Aurora as a last-minute thing. We got there mid-afternoon and had "a few" drinks and then went to the steakhouse. We drank a bottle of wine with dinner, and I almost couldn't even keep my eyes open, I was so tired. We got an Uber home at like 7:30.

If we are going to tell war stories you have to do better than that. Actually, funny thing was I got a gift deep dish pizza pan from Sur La Table and last weekend I mad pizza. We decided to have red wine with it. I was tired as hell after that.

She is much more fun than me and always has been. We are polar opposite in so many ways.

Now in Iquitos, Peru on the Amazon River. Took an old rust bucket cargo boat down the Huallaga River and the Maranon River and the Amazon River into Iquitos from Yurimaguas, Peru.
Fantastic trip. Better than I'd hoped for. About 20 pax on board in hamacas and 7 of us smoking weed.

The jungle never ends.

boat was something like this but with 1/3 the superstructure

Bought four button quail for my kids. I actually got to name one, so I named one of the males (a rather randy little bird who tippeth the scales at 57 grams) Trampas after the character Trampas.

Sitting in hospital room in recovery from donating my left kidney to a total and completely unknown stranger.

It's not every day that you can participate in a modern day medical miracle, and help some guy/gal have a shot at a longer and more productive life.

I am optimistic we do partial liver transplants here now. Some colleagues told me they are running ads in Chicago even.
