That's how we got mice three winters in a row. We sealed up everything elsewhere, but didn't bother with the gap under the door. The one good exterminator suggested that we try to fix it and see what happens, and after that, we've had nothing.

It was pretty awful.

We had a rat issue at two homes where I lived in the past, both well out into the country. A rat can gnaw a hole in concrete block, and an adult can fit through a hole the size of a quarter- that's why the entry point can be so hard to determine; At one old farmhouse, they were in the walls, and got so strong that we had to screw the trap to the floor since he was taking the bait, the trap would trip on him and he'd back into his hole in the wall, pulling the trap off his neck. Soldering a finish nail to the trap loop helped, too.

A former coworker had a daughter that was having nightmares about a monster in her closet. She kept it up long enough that he did the "see here, there's nothing in there" routine one night...and opened the door onto a momma possum and babies. She had gnawed a hole up through the floor of their double-wide and gave birth in the kid's closet. Dad was former active Army, the spotter for the long-range sniper, trained to live in the wilderness eating bugs and stuff. He grabbed the possum and killed it right then and there with his bare hands. Kinda tinted his daughter going forward.

C'mon Shakes, man up! Slap that thing through the five hole!!
