They really fucked things up, with not calling him up last year. I read, they offered him a contract and he turned it down. I hope that doesn't mean, fuck off when I get close to FA.

Biggest problem I can see with not calling him up is there will be a substantially different CBA agreement by the time he hits free agency. Now that aged veterans are being phased out and young players are being cycled through on the cheap, I'd expect them to have a greater say in earlier free agency/arbitration.

He should have been called up last year. Nobody expects the 6 yr(7th year loophole)service time to be re-agreed upon. I think also by not doing it, any chance of him signing a long term contract also went up in smoke.

Pretty stupid not to take care of a valued employee and the "box checking" was insulting.

I doubt it changed anything long term with him. Goodwill tends to evaporate on both sides once money is on the table. Had kris Bryant been called up to start the year, Boras isn’t looking for a team friendly deal right now. Both sides recognize things as business. Shitty business. But business.

It's not a big thing but is a thing. How does Hahn not recognize the service time is, right now, without a doubt, obsolete? Kris Bryant's service time was NOT obsolete.

They did agree on a long term contract. When it came time to sign it Eloy’s camp reneged. That’s why he wasn’t called up.

He's at Sox convention this weekend.

Get his autograph now, BEFORE he becomes a star!

I am confused... Signs contract, he would of been up last year? When? No contract, punished to stay down?

If he signed it he was up in September. Like I said Hahn has some FU in him I didn’t know he had. Oh and it was a crazy team friendly contract.

I am not shocked that it was team friendly. Not sure you wanna piss off your next superstar off.

The odds are 99.9% that Eloy will be a FA before 2026. What Hahn did was waste talent and growth in the minors. He should have already had his rookie year out of the way. The new CBA will NOT have a loophole 7th year, will NOT have a 6th year. I even doubt there will be 5 years.

Wait...so they can backtrack on negotiated agreements like that?

You guys spend way too much time worrying about future players and their future status.

Yes, with a new CBA.

When is Eloy arb eligible and when is he an UFA?

Reads just fine. Some fans here do not get the new way. They say they get it with all the control the Cubs have for example. But then they get soft selectively for the favorites or to make arguments.

It's bad business imo, I didn't like when the Cubs did it to KB and I don't like it being done to Eloy. It will end at the next cba.

I'd have no problem if Eloy was 4 years ago like Bryant. My bitching is strictly logistics.

I think so also. Yeah, I get it that one more year is important but relative to other stuff it isn't that important. Cross that bridge when you come to it.

I saw something about the Sox signed his younger brother as well.

They should bring him up before Eloy.
