 Post subject: Mel Stottlemeyer

Saddened by the death of a truly great pitcher and baseball coach, Mel Stottlemeyer. He won many games for some very strong Yankee teams winning 20+ games three times I believe.

But it was in coaching pitchers that I think he was even better. Mel had great success as a pitching coach in the majors. He preached solid mechanics, balance, and pitching tall, things that I tried to do while being a coach myself at a much lower level and with younger guys.

I understand also, that Mel was a good and generous human being. A true gentleman who fought a courageous battle against cancer. He will be missed. :( :( :(
