It has been a long time since I lived there but the mayor Ed Zabrocki was pretty famous in a Chicago way. Gladhander, go to picnics and block parties and always help his friends. Was mayor or king forever. Anyway, I always heard the cops were more his buddies and so forth than top of the line detectives and such.

I’m guessing at some point this entire case was turned over to the FBI so it matters fuck all if it was a police force of Barney Fife’s in Tinley.

I only met with him once or twice and didn't know much about him. If The Simpsons had been on at that time I would have assumed he was not unlike Mayor Quimby.
