I consider this a less than stellar field. I think there will be quite a stout pace in here considering they're going for $9 million and there are several horses that prefer to be forwardly placed. I'm probably going to be playing looking for the race to fall apart late. Seeking The Soul looks to have a good position right behind the speed horses. If there's really a meltdown, there's little doubt Gunnevera will be coming. But I think a real sleeper in here is Audible. He doesn't have the best post for the distance at Gulfstream and he has yet to run the figures some of these horses have, but he's a horse that is good at working out a trip and I don't think he will be contesting things early. Also, his last race is considered a disappointment by most, but it really wasn't terrible and the track conditions were very bad that day.

I agree with you about Audible. Third off the lay-off he should be in better form than he was in the Harlan's Holiday. But it could be that he doesn't like the GP track. Accelerate has a considerable speed advantage, but City of Light had a better final speed figure (111) his last time out compared to Accelerate, albeit at the shorter 1 mi. distance. Seeking the Soul has been a dogged competitor in the high stakes races, but is short on wins.

I think the Mexican horse, KuKulkan, is intriguing, in that he has never lost in 10 races and has a running style that reminds me of West Coast, fluid and effortless with an overdrive gear. Of course he's up against the toughest competition in the Pegasus, but's he's run his last five races at 1 1/8 mi. The distance plays to his strength. One thing you can be sure of is that you will get nice odds on him, if you're willing to take him on a flier.

If Accelerate wants to control the race he's going to have trouble. I figure City Of Light will be on the lead, but Patternrecognition has to leave hard from out where he is and he was impressive as hell in his last. If Accelerate is hot and gets caught up slugging it out with those two, there will be the kind of pace I'm looking for.

I think now that it was just the wet track that Audible didn't like in the Harlan's Holiday, on top of there being no pace in that race and him getting a bad trip by having to go six wide in the mud around the far turn to get in the clear. If he gets a fast track, I would expect him to do much better, considering he won the Florida Derby and Holy Bull at GP back in the first months of 2018. Gunnevera also has done well at GP, winning two of three, with the one he didn't win being a show finish in last year's Pegasus. Neither Accelerate nor City of Light have run a race at GP before, so that's something to consider. Accelerate has been in only one race where the pace was really hot and that was in the Awesome Again stakes, but he still managed to hold off West Coast, even getting separation into the wire.

It's still Accelerate's race to win, no matter how you slice it, but Audible could surprise if he gets the fast track. I don't think Gunnevera can get it done, because of a lack of early speed.

Man I love Gunnevera. The idea of a horse being bought for 16K and then earning over 4 million is so awesome, regardless of the connections. JORR I don’t know about a pace meltdown, but that would set him up nicely. It could be the Fountain of Youth ’17 all over again on the same course, which was my favorite race of his ever.

I guess I just don’t see that scenario happening. When City of Light beat Accelerate earlier this year at Oaklawn, he pressed behind the early speed and didn’t move really until the ¾ pole. He also got a dream trip. Patternrecognition could be upfront but will have to do a lot of heavy lifting from the 12-hole. If that pace meltdown doesn’t occur, the race falls into Accelerate’s lap. And I just don’t see much talent otherwise.

Audible is intriguing (particularly at Gulfstream, although I really don’t like a 1st time rider on that horse who switching coasts). As is Seeking The Soul. Which only means morons like me looking for value will throw money at those two, them making them underlays at racetime.

May even bet on Bravazo, not a bad horse, has the rail, and a ridiculously hot Luis Saez onboard.

I’m actually looking forward to the undercard much more.

Off turf 1,3,and 5 and track is sloppy. Damn it.

City of Light is too much of a horse not to have underneath. I take him over Seeking the Soul.

Don't think there are going to be any big surprises in this race. These top-tier horses are too good that they'll run like they have up to this point. They say Accelerate is looking quite fit, but I like what I see from City of Light.

I'm rooting for Kukulkan, because it's a good story and the horse has a neat name---the feathered serpent. He takes the lead of the jockey very well, though I know some are questioning his speed. The horse hasn't really been in a race, because he's beaten the competition that badly. And he's undefeated, for whatever it's worth.

Next Race (4) I get that it's in the slop, but a Pletcher 1ster out of Union Rags at 30-1...eleven MTP??? hmmmm..

I'm alive in the PK-3 to the 11 for $10. I'm surprised he's 90/1. He should be on or near the lead and I think he'll be better than last time.

Finally back on turf, and hitting some tickets. I really like Dream Pauline in this spot out of her G3 win right here at Gulf. Shamrock Rose is good, but not 8/5 good. And Blamed is being (no surprise) overbet. 2,8/all exacta.

I think Blamed is being bet like that because she figures to be loose on the lead and the way the track has been the front is awfully tough.
