Interesting timing for a Joc Pederson trade rumor. This has been on the table for months. I figured it was pulled when the Dodgers traded Kemp and Puig.

So did I. I watched Pederson when he played out here for the Quakes in Rancho Cucamonga. I was impressed a lot by his make-up. Defensively in the outfield he was fast and had very good instincts. He also had a very live bat and is a good base stealer.

I think that the Dodgers think that they don't want to offer him a large contract based on his production. They benched him last year for quite a bit of time.

My personal assessment is that Pederson had a very quick ascent through the minor leagues and had instant success early in the bigs. It could be that he doesn't or didn't know how to handle failure which as a scout you certainly can understand. But he is still very young and has the potential of becoming an excellent player. He certainly is better than anyone that they have in their present outfield so why not.?

Sure why not. He's only 26 and they need a corner OF. He made an adjustment last year that allowed him to hit for more power and cut way down on his strikeouts. That's almost unheard of today. He's an all time douche nozzle but oh well. So is Manny.

I'm fine with this. Good outfielder with 20-30 homers a years while hitting around .250.

Yeah, that's his rep and that may be a function also of having made such a quick jump to the majors. My experience with some of these young kids is that because things happen so easily early, that they get big egos and think that their shit doesn't stink. He's certainly cheaper than Manny at that, though.

I thought that they might give him a go at center? No?

It seems like he has evolved into a LF. Played the majority of his games there last year.

Yeah I don't think he's an everyday CF. He can get some spot starts there but I think they'd be best with him and Eloy on the corners.

Kinda like Jason Heyward right? Good CF, but can be a Gold Glove one as a LF/RF

I'm not sure if he's a gold glover but he's a hell of a lot better than the options they have now.

League is making a flurry of moves today...Pollock, Brach, Strickland...seems like they may have some Machado and/or Harper intel.

Looks like they're just haggling over the last piece. As long as it isn't Bryce Bush it's fine.

Peterson is a nice player. He'll end up a role player, but right now he's an upgrade over all existing OF. I like this.

I think he'll be more than a role player. Dodgers had a ton of Outfielders, he would have been starting on most teams.

I think he meant platoon rather than role

If ya got Manny he'll be at SS( mistake) he should play 3rd. Probably have to move Anderson to 3rd or CF. Moncada is the guy without a position, Madrigal will be up by May.

A guy we drafted played against Madrigal this summer. He played 2B and said they shifted him like a left handed pull hitter. Madrigal dumped two humpback liners over his head. He said it was maddening. He also said he is "tiny". He offered that before I even had to ask.

J. Michael Robertson on the Twitter is claiming Sox get Pederson for Bummer, Fullmer and SS Laz Rivera. Also, Machado is signed to an 8yr deal that will be announced at Soxfest.

The package for Pederson makes sense, and announcing at tonight also does. Not sure, the Machado one does, although it would be YUGE if so.

The fact that they are able to get any live body for Fulmer is a huge win for Hahn.
