If you try to drive at normal speeds in this weather you're a fuckin' moron who should probably stay in his bedroom and play video games rather than causing accidents that really slow everybody down.

I drive a 4WD Jeep. I can do over the speed limit in this weather. Stick to talking about foot driven two wheelers.AND GET OFF THE ROAD.

I gotta get to work.

It’s amazing, then, how many of those mighty 4WD vehicles end up ditchbound and/or rolled over in these conditions.

I have a 4WD F150...I tell my kids when we are driving every time in the snow...."this doesn't mean you're indestructible...this thing will slide in a ditch real fast if you drive like an ass".

They don’t stop any better when they are 4wd speaking as a 4wd truck and SUV owner. Actually the old AWD diesel is probably best in this stuff as long as it’s not deep.

Yeah 4wd doesn't help you stop or control your slide into the ditch really.

That is correct.

It's ruined many a Dr. Ken joke.

Have you ever sat there contemplating changing the quote back to the typo just for the joke's sake?

There's a happy medium between driving 35 or 40 vs. 10 or 15.

I learned many years ago that going straight in the snow is much easier at speeds than turning. I was turning the corner at 176 and 21 in Libertyville in 4wd in my 1-ton gmc pick-up. It had just started snowing heavy and the road was slippery. As I started my turn, no problemo, then the turned front wheels stopped working and I went into a straight skid. My turned right tire hit the curb and popped the tire off the rim. I limped behind the Blockbuster and changed the tire in a blizzard. I think I was still wearing shorts from working out. Lesson learned.

My current F250 is a beast in the snow.

Been an interesting morning. I cleared my driveway by 6am this morning and figured out that there was a pretty good chance I was going to get stuck in my cul de sac since the plow hadn't come yet and there was a bit drift from the main road plows at the end. Plow finally came at 8:45 and left me a 2 foot wall of snow at the end of my driveway and there was an additional couple of inches on the ground. We went from no snow to now I am having a hard time figuring out where to put it all. With the long narrow driveway I have I need to move the snow either up the driveway to throw in my backyard or down the driveway to throw onto my front yard. There is about 25-30 ft between my house and the neighbors where I can't throw it either direction. I am not going to toss it against my neighbors house. I have a lot of work ahead of me tonight to likely snowblow the thing for the third time and then try to shovel it down to the concrete before this crazy cold weather comes. At least it isn't that cold today.

Dispense most of it evenly back into the street.

Yeah I refuse to do that and have the plow push it down to another neighbor. I see that as being a douchebag move and am certain I am getting some of that already from the two neighbors who live upstream from me.

We have at least 10" up here in Germantown and it won't stop. I had 2 and 3 foot drifts that I had to shovel off of my walk way. Nas' shoveling method didn't work.

I feel like the forecasters focus on the downtown snow amount and Northwest Burbs/Lake County always receive an extra 4-6 inches to that number.
