The Hawkeroo is, and so am I:

Fuck that haphazard, unsymmetrical-looking Single-Windsor, and the horribly unkempt-looking Schoolboy Knot.

(Had a real estate closing yesterday wherein an the elder attorney gentleman across from me commented on my knot. It was a pretty neat conversation.)

The smallest knot possible. Otherwise even extra-long ties stop above my navel as if I was a hillbilly.

I always used the schoolboy. Small knots were in fashion when I came of age. And it's easy to get the tie to belt length. But bigger knots have come back in style so I've occasionally gone to a Windsor. Sometimes it's hard to get the tie to the right length. I don't know how Trump has his ties hanging down between his knees. They must be extra long or something. Anyway, it's a dumb look.

I do double-windsor simply because I don't know how any other way.

And yes, to get around his belly and still hang to his knees Trump must have 9-foot ties.

Panther, do you wear a tie every day?

I do a single Windsor because that's just what I've always done. I probably only wear a tie 5 times a year, though.

It looks like I do the Pratt method but I kind of just figured it out myself because I wear one once or twice a year.

Four-in-hand

(apparently that's the same as a schoolboy, though I had not heard of that term)

I always use it with braided line. It is unbreakable. You could reel in a shark. It doesn't work well with mono, though, IMO.

I do a single Windsor because that's just what I've always done. I probably only wear a tie 5 times a year, though.

Always a suit and tie to Court, of course, but for client meetings and Real Estate Closings my rule is that if we have never met (new client), I always wear a suit and tie.

For existing clients, I usually go with a quarter-zip, sweater, or sweater vest over a collared shirt - sometimes with tie, and sometimes not. In summer, I wear a polo shirt a lot.

Any time I am in a contentious deal wherein the other attorney has been a dick, is a hardass, or otherwise is going to put up a fight, I always wear a non-busy tie (no pattern or very simple pattern) and either the Armani or the hand-made suit that the old Italian seamstress lady next door (whose husband was a haberdasher for Hart Schaffner Marx for over 40 years) made for me as a gift.

exactly the same as me. I could never get a double Windsor long enough.

Single Windsor. Wait, isn't a single Windsor a half-Windsor and a double is just a Windsor? I guess I don't know what I do. But it must work because on the rare occasions where I wear a tie (besides funerals), I prove to be very interesting to the ladies.

Yeah, I actually do a double Windsor, I guess. I wasn't sure what it was called. It's just the one I was taught to do when I was young.

It is definitely hard to get them long enough... my torso is disproportionately long, so I buy real long ties and then just start with it really long when i start tying it. By the time I'm done, it doesn't even look long.

Did you feel like you had the upper hand after the farmers destroyed you and took all your money?

Yep.

Its huge.

However, the old Jew partner who trained me to be a lawyer would tear everyone to shreds in his wrinkled dockers, old sport coat, and old man-with-bad-feet black gym shoes.

I guess the way I do it is called Four-in-Hand. Really easy actually although the knots are usually pretty small. Don't really know any other ways and I
don't wear ties enough to really experiment much. I did buy a real bow tie for a charity event a few years ago and learned how to tie that which was kind of cool but again, I haven't worn it since. Might wear a tie 1-2 times a year. Maybe. I don't go to court as often as I did as a younger man
