For me, I just prefer the message board format to a chat format. But I'm an old guy.

I think bigfan's mistake was that he didn't understand that he couldn't control where people go on the Internet. You just have to supply a forum where people want to participate.

I do think it's somewhat disingenuous that most of the complaints about CFMB have been about "offensive" content, i.e. racism, bigotry, yet people are so eager to go where they can palaver with the worst offenders.

I don’t know anything about discord but it made me wonder about this board. It seems users desire chat and maybe some more options. I was a member of othe boards before this and it seems their platforms while being the same as ours did have chat rooms and stuff. Other than that they were identical. How much more money can it be or trouble to have a newer platform?

Not only wouldn’t people go to Facebook or discord but maybe there would be fewer long thread fights because the steam gets released in chats.

Have you ever used Discord? It's like asking why someone wouldn't just use a typewriter instead of an computer to write a letter.

Chats for special events instead of game threads that are just lots of posts that go "oh" "OHHHHH" "oh nooooooo" yeah!!!!!!" are a good idea, but they shouldn't run parallel to the entire message board. So I'm guessing this chat is mainly a way for ToxicMasculinity to be even more mask-off than he is here?

This thread is no different then people posting about FB chat. He isn't saying come to another board. He is inviting us to another platform. What Peeps and KS did is different.

Discord is like a group text chain. This place is like a reply all e-mail chain. Discord is good when things are happening like a game because everything is in one spot and instantaneous. This is better if your want topics and like to browse/add longer thoughts.

I've been on the Discord a few times and there was no racism talk so it was fine.

I do like a little structure which is why I prefer the board format. Discord is like a chatroom where there can be 7 conversations going on simultaneously. Nothing wrong with it, and probably good for quick chat.
