After this year, he has 4 more years. I guess the question becomes, is he done or close to done? If so, I am sure you can Marian Hossa him to Arizona.

The respectable in return is they also have to take Toews or Seabrook.

yes, I know that's not realistic.

I bet Seabrook gets bought out next collective bargaining agreement.

Are we sure there are going to be compliance buyouts?

If you can get decent value for Saad, I'd be in favor of moving him. I'd rather spend his money on Panarin. No chance moving Seabrook. Compliance buyout is our only hope.

They need to stop trying to win. Just go for the #1 pick, so we can reset this bullshit.

If they hold on and win tonight, they're within striking distance of the last wild card in this increasingly stupid league.

They are but still have a few teams to jump over

That was actually quite entertaining. Its always good to see the Wild lose whether its with a point or not. Gus dropped a few hammers tonight . Don't get too good though.....still gotta draft high enough to get Kaapo.

Ain't gonna happen. They'll probably draft 6th or 7th.

What are they now tied for 4th or tied for 5th whichever way you look at it? This is nothing a good deadline deal or 2 couldn't take care of. Removing Artie, Kruger, Saad and maybe Keith should screw things up enough to ensure some more losses. They will be better in the long run but the chemistry will be off long enough to get them one of those nice picks.

Moving Saad doesn't make sense. Moving Anisimov wouldn't get you anything or make you worse.

Moving Keith doesn't make any sense, either. This isn't a Ray Bourque situation where he's making one last charge for a championship. Keith put himself on the Cup three times, he's been here for 14 years, surely has put down roots, and surely would rather stay comfortable here than go start all over in Calgary or Denver as a new guy helping out an established young core. He said there's no year-to-year continuity in the NHL anymore, citing Jersey last year and this year (I'd cite Ottawa in any two years), and he's right. The outside-the-box solution to Keith might be getting to the deadline, seeing where the Hawks are in the race, and LTIRing him for the rest of the year to avoid putting any unneeded miles on him. Give him a very long summer vacation and see if that helps rejuvenate him at all.

There is something about Keith that makes me think he wouldn't mind having his named carved into that trophy 1 more time than his "core" teammates. Kaner and Seabs are clearly tight and I think Toews is probably in that group as well. Keith kind of seems distanced from them and I could see him saying sure...trade me and let me go get my name on it again. If they do deal him they absolutely have to put a poison pill in the deal that a 1st rd pick is given to the Hawks if he retires early and screws them with the cap hit years later.

Of course it makes sense. You are freeing up cap space for Panarin who is a superior player to Saad. You don't dump Saad but if you can get a decent return, move him. Anisimov doesn't add much to this team and is way overpriced. If some playoff team feels he would be a nice 3rd line center in the playoffs then trade him too.

Agreed DAC, at this point, we know this is not a cup contending team, just blow it up.

Panarin is going to Miami to fuck around and not win anything. He'll have more fun than he did not winning anything with the Blackhawks.

I think I was unclear. I said the Hawks absolutely should trade Anisimov. I'm just pessimistic about the return. 5th/conditional 4th?

Better than paying $5+ mill for a 3rd line center.

Canucks lost, Habs leading the Ducks 4-1 late, Preds over the Coyotes 3-1 near the end of the second. If you think the Hawks can be helped, that's help.
