Westbrook is rewriting history. The only pg who has done that recently is maybe Curry.

Not maybe. Steph is rewriting history while winning championships. Your guy is putting up irrelevant stats on middle seed teams. Zero comparison there. Steph has no equal currently in the NBA at his position.

"Irrelevant stats"? Can you let you us know why you started this thread?

Because I find it interesting how the new style is rewriting record books by guys who aren’t all time greats.

That's just an open lie. Russ is a great and will enter the HOF the second he's eligible. What you're doing is just like starting a thread to praise apples and then following up with posts in the same thread about how apples are the worst food ever.

You misconstrued this. Ltg and most others who frequent this forum know Ive never intended on praising Westbrook. He plays a losing, selfish brand of basketball that can sometimes be extraordinary. That criticism was falsely applied to Iverson and others in the past but it’s true with him. He’s continuing to prove it post-Durant. Let me know when he wins a postseason series. It’ll be awhile.

Only thing i will say to that is that you hold him to a standard that doesn't apply to everyone else.

Jimmy Butler has never led anyone out of the first either and comes up small in every playoff series that he has ever participated yet you had him no doubt top 10. Russ has gone to the NBA and conf finals as a #2

Nobody is calling Butler an all time great player. Different labels require different standards.

I don't think anyone is calling Westbrook that either.

This isn't really even a fair statement. When he won in the past it was because of Durant. Now if they are able to win this year it will be because of George. So no matter what happens you will be critical.

The guy is on pace to break an all time great players record....one that you said was not long ago considered untouchable. Yet he will not be considered an all time great player.

He has issues no doubt, but the man has put up all time great stats...and if/when he passes Oscar he has to be considered an all time great...even if he plays a selfish stupid game at times.

Here is my point. WHere do you place the best of Westbrook? where would the best of Westbrook be ranked in your opinion? As far as current players go.

I didn't say he was currently an all time great but would be if he surpasses the record of an all time great

Probably 4th. I have Steph, Paul, and Kyrie a clear notch ahead of him.

No I'm talking in the league during the period that he was at his very best as a player. Where would you rank him?

When he was good. I thought you would have had him lower considering the way you bash him all the time. When he was good that would be about where i had him too. 4-5 somewhere in there.

Sorry I thought you still meant among PG's.

I think at his best, around two years ago, I had him around 7-10 overall.

Ok that would put him in an area in which you place Butler. Why do you hold Westbrook to different standards when he and Butler are essentially ranked in the same area? If you are going to bash Westbrook then Butler needs to be bashed also. They are essentially the same player rankings wise

I would have them ranked similarly but they are completely different players. I've soured a bit on Butler with how much of a diva he has become lately, but there are few, if any, weaknesses in his game. He's pretty good at everything and can work with and without the ball. Russell is extremely ball dominant and a horrendous shooter, and I would describe his game as pretty stupid and selfish. He's also extremely talented, most explosive athlete in the league, plays his ass off on every single play, one of the best finishers in the league. It's all or nothing with him though. Butler, personality aside, adds more to a team and takes less away from it on the court.
