Sounds like bigfan is a little tense today. He needs to leisurely sip on a cosmo and settle down.

My guess is that somebody's wife didn't want to go and see the movie with him.

He just doesn't want to read any spoilers before the midnight showing.
We all know your BigFan moniker is just a clever derivation of "Mr. Big"

I cannot think of a bigger movie premier that I was less inclined to watch. I would not even watch this on cable several years from now...unless I hear reports of a good nude scenes (but I have no desire to see 3/4 of the lead women naked).

Last week during John Williams' Saturday show, I loved it when he asked Nick Digilio about reviewing this movie and he went on a rant, saying that he'd get his girlfriend to see it and he'll give her review.

This is like the WNBA. Because it is female based, it must be good and has to be built up.

The "outcry" for this movie was done by female movie execs and nothing more.

Without seeing it, I could only guess this will be ad pimped on everything everywhere to make money without anyone seeing the movie.

Week 2 this movie will be out of top 10 and in Video in 30 days.

OK I'll preface this with saying that I have no interest at all in seeing this movie because it doesn't look good at all, and I don't even know if fans of the show will be that entertained...

...but I did watch the show and it was damn good, and at times, wasn't just a "chick" show.

the finale sucked and the last season wasn't great, but there was some value to it.

bye now...

The times I saw this show I found it to be shallow and not at all realistic. The 4 women encompassed just about every quality in women that I hate.

Thank you Spaulding. I don't dislike the show because it's a "chick" show; I dislike it because I find it absolutely appalling. I find the morality of the show to be vapid and downright disgusting. It's a dick picture, but for whom I'm not sure; the writers, the actors, maybe the whole collection of everyone involved in the show. It sets forth a reality that is both unattainable and, frankly, undesirable even if it were attainable for most people. I've never made it through an episode without wanting to vomit. Perhaps worst of all, I've never found it to be funny, even in the least bit.

I agree with you and I know a few women that are like the ones in that show......I just can't stand this show and just wish it will go away

i don't want to see this thread go another page, so i won't continue the argument.

i thought the show began, at least, with a very honest look at city women, and the desperation of thirtysomethings in a place like NYC that swallows people whole on a daily basis (i have somewhat personal experience with this); it was a comedy, somewhat exaggerated because of the fact that it's written from the perspective of a columnist, whom herself was going through her own personal hells and whatnot.

the show became something different, and like every other goddamned show on TV these days, started to go downhill, and by the end of it, was as bad as spaulding and irish boy have put it.

but i still think overall, the show was good.

i have no interest in the movie whatsoever. and i am guaranteeing that even fans'll be disappointed with it. if i'm wrong...who fuckin cares.

Big Fan, I'm glad that this was your post and not something about some preview you saw of the movie. If you had done the latter, we'd have to lop off your man sack and shove it down your throat.

It does sound crazy. What single, young, atheist who hopes to be in the entertainment industry moves TO Wheaton. You are taking the opposite career path of Belushi.

The significant other and her sisters are going to the evening show tonight. She asked if I was upset. When I asked if she got me a ticket as well she said "no." I responded "then I'm not upset."

Nick was filling in for Steve and Johnnie the other night and he was ranting about the movie. He basically said it sucked and he hated how they handled the premerie making everyone there sit through a 30 minute making the movie video first and then the 150 minutes of movie after that. He commented how it was 3 hours of his life he'll never get back.

WZ,
I'm man enough to have your back on this one.
The show started out great and lost it's steam around the 4th season.
In it's downward spiral the characters became less complex & the plot became a farce of what the show started out as.
BTW,
IMHO, Ron Livingston's Berger was one of the better portrayals of an overcompensating, insecure male character ever put on film.
The breakup sticky note is classic.

I don't know enough about the show to be able to tell early episodes from later episodes. Maybe I've only seen late episodes. What I saw I really, really disliked, but not just in the same way I've disliked a lot of other popular shows like Friends. There was something that really revolted me.

A lot of people say they had that reaction for Seinfeld. I never did because I felt the show was a realistic depiction of everyday life.

That's a pretty tough standard, IB.
God knows, you won't get any of that from the "reality" TV shows.
Even the documentary nature shows on Discovery & National Geographic channels are edited to dramatize the events of mostly mundane everyday life.
