Just got back from relieving my 15 yr old cat from his misery. Chauncey was a helluva guy. He was a long haired orange tabby that was about 16 lbs of muscle when he was in his prime, was probably about 8 lbs tonight. He got in numerous fights, survived getting hit by a car and used all of his nine lives to the fullest. He had the uncanny ability to pick out the person in the room who was most allergic to cats and go straight to them. My kids don’t remember life without Chauncey. He was a good guy who loved people and people loved him. There were many tears. He will be missed.

Putting a pet down is one of the worst feelings.

Sorry to hear, Mr. Reason.

Losing a pet is a terrible thing for any household - especially when kids are involved.

My condolences to you and yours, Mr. Reason. :(

Sometimes pets can be a lot of work and effort but I can't imagine our life here without our little dog. He's a joy and makes us smile everyday.

So sorry.

Thanks, fellas. When I got up in the morning, I always had Chauncey following me downstairs bitching at me for food. Our other cat, Squirty who is 18, would make her way downstairs later. This morning I walked downstairs alone. Time sucks.

I've had a few cats and while I am not really a cat person anymore and wouldn't get another one they are fun animals to have around if you find a cool one
that you connect with. I had a big Siamese that my ex wife took with her after the divorce and is still alive as far as I know. Anyway I am sorry to hear
about your loss Reason.

Its the little things like this that hurt the most.

Eventually you gonna get another cat, Reason?

I don’t think so. Not until the 18 yr old passes, at least. She is in great shape and has never had a health problem in her life. She may be one of those cats who lives well into her 20s.
