In all sincerity, I hope they get some serious cash from this. My understanding is that their prior deals undervalued the broadcasting rights. The Cubs will need it to paper over the mistakes of so many large bad contracts. This should get them enough to keep Rizzo, Bryant, Baez, and Hendricks.

This will be interesting how the channel is available. Will it be on most providers? Will it be part of providers sports package? Can you bypass providers and get it directly? Will providers reject it like the Dodgers channel? Will it be called the Jason Heyward channel? Will people outside of the blackout area be ok with just the MLB app? Poor people on a fixed income with a skimpy cable package will get screwed.

This will be a big day in Cubs history when all the particulars come out.

Unless you are so twisted into a pretzel ala Chic-Fil-A or Hobby Lobby this doesn't affect fans. If they charge you a bunch of money or can't get games on your tv then bitch. God some of these people are weird.

This would have made more sense if Sinclair had been successful in buying WGN. Then they would have had a stick to avoid a SportsNet LA situation, because no cable provider could lose regular WGN.

That turn of events helps explain why spending is down. I think this was Theo's last year anyway because I think he will go run the DNC, and I think that was decided at some point in 2017.
