Kopech played four games and they blew a year of service time.

I feel terrible that Harpchado will only get generational wealth for 10 generations and not 20.

Agreed. their egos are getting in the way of generational wealth. They both think they deserve to be the highest paid player in MLB. Harper failed the Nationals in the playoffs when they needed him and Machado couldn't help the Orioles from losing 100 games or help the Dodgers beat the Astros in the WS. Dodgers are not even trying to re-sign Machado.

IMO they are overrated and the owners and GM's know they are not worth 300MIL. If we are talking about M.Trout instead of Machado and Harper teams would be making it rain 300MIL contracts like it was a Saturday night at the local strip club.

I wouldn't go using playoff success or season records as your determining factor for star players if you're going to put Mike Trout on a pedestal high above the other two.

Mike Trout has been to one postseason in 7 full seasons and has 1 playoff hit.

The Orioles and Nationals have been to more postseasons in that time, and have better records. Machado and Harper have better postseason statistics. Not great, but better than Trout.

Too much money for the owners and players to have a strike.

Or a stupid lockout after being butthurt over stupidly losing a collusion case.

Easy does it on the defense of Giolito. The guy has over 43 starts and even had 4 with the Nats.

Fuck it, hear me out...been all over Harp and Machado like everyone else. What if the Sox presentation to both was that they would sign both? Obviously went to Harper first in November. From multiple accounts he was moved by the presentation. He green lights it IF Machado is indeed signed, hence the Sox immediate pivot and focus to Machado. With the market what it is for Machado, they are negotiating to get him at as much of a premium as possible. Harper is on standby until this is resolved.

Hell, Rick Hahn was boasting how the Sox didn't even have odds on the Las Vegas boards for Machado. The odds of the Sox signing both Machado and Harper would have been 1000-1.

To compare Machado's and Harper's postseason stats to Trout's is a little silly considering his post season sample size is so miniscule.

I'm not the one who accused Machado and Harper of being playoff disappointments and I wasn't the one that pointed to Mike Trout as what a model free agent could look like.

Mike Trout is probably the best player in baseball, but team success since 2012 is certainly not the way you can come to that conclusion.

https://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/whitesox/ct-spt-white-sox-manny-machado-glove-20190212-story.html

Rawlings, with whom Machado has his baseball glove deal, Tuesday tweeted photos of his 2019 gloves, which are black and white/silver. The sporting goods company wrote: “Check out Manny Machado’s gloves for this season! Where do you think he is going to play this season? Is the black and white a sign??”

Does Rawlings, based in St. Louis, know something the rest of the world does not?

With the Orioles, where he played from 2012 to the middle of 2018, he used either a black-and-orange glove or a brown glove with black trim. Sometimes he even played third base with an orange-and-black glove. He spent the second half of 2018 with the Dodgers, for whom he mostly used the traditional brown glove.

It's not a tryout but rather a contest where 100 fans get to throw a pitch and the 10 fastest get free tickets or something like that.

No, IMU is right. A case can definitely be made for Mookie Betts.

There really is no excuse for you.

Sox will not get Machado. If he wanted to sign with a last place team with 5 straight losing seasons and management that has players cutting up uniforms to get away and fighting with players about having their kid in the clubhouse and then having the player quit over it.....he would have signed already. He is only using the Sox as leverage to sign with a good team for more money.

Wrong.

Last year they were nearly identical offensively and Betts was a better base runner and defender.

You want to say Trout has done it longer, that's fine. In 2018 Betts was as good or better than Trout.
