Lots of instrumental on Spotify, lately the Quiet Hours playlist while I am getting ready in the morning.

Newer vocal pop:
Los Angeles - Olivia Olsen
Rio Grande - Sean Pauling

And an oldie - Love is All Around, covered by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts

New Dream Theater coming out in a couple of weeks:

Reminds me of the Train of Thought album.

I’ve been on a Wichita Lineman kick lately, and The Meters cover is amazing -

Art Neville on vocals. Most of the classic Meters shit is just instrumentals, but there are some great vocal tracks as well.

Others aside from the Glen Campbell version that are terrific:

Kool & The Gang Live Instrumental (1971)
https://youtu.be/ZYNtIDvVZmw

Gil Tryhall Moog Instrumental (1973)
https://youtu.be/504Ui9Eff-4

Electronic Concept Orchestra Moog Instrumental (1969)
https://youtu.be/g0clC5YNgEA

Plus JJ Johnson, The Main Ingredient, and Freddie Hubbard.

The James Taylor one is good, but it’s a little redundant after listening to the Campbell version. Not that the back-to-back Moog covers don’t sound redundant.

saw on Twitter that Al Hirt played halftime at Superbowl 2 or 3? Played his greatest hits while making dinner last night. Felt like I had officially turned into my parents.

I loved this album for a few years, and then put it away for a while. I got tired of music nerds on boards mocking me for saying it was better than Loaded. What, it is.

Some of the synths sound dated but I like the minimalism of it; I always thought Berlin would have sounded better being this sparse and bleak. But I do have to laugh that the "small town" in question is Pittsburgh.

This is like a Jeff Tweedy song except it hasn't been ruined by Nels Cline. Mikael Jorgensen, and Glenn Kotche putting all kinds of weird sounds over it:

Good ole' fashioned post Creatures of the Night 80's (pretty good album) KISS.

Outdated, chasing trends, confused, alone with Gene looking like a glam Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer. Paul is gayer than ever. Great sonic version of the band, though. Some good songs from that era...but a lot of terrible ones. Bruce Kulick was great and so was Eric Carr.

They would be back to black, metal and leather for Revenge in the 1990s before they went to grunge with Carnival of Souls and then back to makeup reunion KISS shortly after.

Time is a flat circle.

RIP Eric Carr.

Sirius has had Kiss on Channel 30 for the past few weeks. I have to say, I never realized until now just how much Kiss sucks.

Furious plays the drums on account of Neil Peart.

Furious plays Pearl drums on account of Peter Criss.

The seventies, man. That was some shit. I remember the Bicentennial, Jaws, competitive All-Star games, "Kung Fu Fighting," "Baker Street," black and white portable tvs, my sisters listening to Fleetwood Mac, shitty cartoons on days when you were sick and not in school, people with long hair moving slowly and saying, "hey, man," and KISS.

tommy, that picture is from like 1987. I like to imagine it being taken 5 minutes before Appetite for Destruction came out.

Late first-run Doobie Brothers, and the British 80s group Deacon Blue. And a diversion into Thom Bell era Philly Soul with the Spinners' Mighty Love.

I get Deacon Blue, The Blue Nile, Blue Rodeo and The Ocean Blue confused sometimes......

This is my friends band. They broke up not long after they made this.
Their album is called "The Color Blue".

Finally got this in the mail.
Bought it on Discogs from a guy in just south of Indianapolis and it took 9 days to get here.
Fuck 'Media Mail" - but nary a scratch and very little surface noise for a 30 year old used vinyl.
$7.
:D
I love this album but I never owned it before except on a dubbed cassette.
