Can we stop acting like he really wants to play football, but this desire is being prevented by racist owners at this point:

I don't think this makes him a DB, he just doesn't want to go play minor league football.

I don't think he wants to play any football now.

That's not an unreasonable number to give an NFL team as a contract demand. An NFL team just traded for, and took on the contract of, Joe Flacco and Joe Flacco is going to make $40 million over the next two seasons.

Flacco is clearly overpaid but that doesn't mean everyone gets 20 million a year.

I would laugh at any team that signed a guy who hasn't played in 3 years to a 20 million a year contract.

Probably not. Flacco's been ranked around 30-34th in most major categories over the last few seasons. He's one of the very worst starting QBs in the league and has been since around 2016.

I would too, just as I'm laughing at the current moves NFL teams are already making for similarly talented QBs.

Flacco is under contract. Being paid for past performance. No comparison.

A team just traded for and took on that contract without restructuring it. That means an NFL team thinks he is currently appropriately compensated for how good he currently is.

Let's be fair here...it's John Elway making CTE based decisions.

I'm sure he's got a ton of brain damage going on there...

Kaepernick would be a backup at best now after the layoff.

Brian Hoyer seems like a good comp. He got 4.4 million over 3 years.

The link in the OP doesn't really have anything to do with the argument regarding his value IMO. He was approached by a fledgling league and threw out a ridiculous number. That's what it would take to get him to sign with that league. He knew it wouldn't be accepted. It has nothing to do with the NFL or their stance on Kaepernick.

I don't blame him for not wanting to play minor league football but it also was his greatest chance to prove he was an NFL quality player.

While that may be true at this point, it ignores the fact that the NFL had already rejected him even though he was clearly better than many other gainfully employed QB's during his first couple of years of exile.

He was not “clearly better”. He didn’t want to play anymore so he started his new grift. It would be fine if he was honest about it.

He was clearly better than many QB's who were on rosters the last two years.

I agree with the rest of your post though.

He was not clearly better than Tom Savage his last year in the league? You sure about that?

we fired a sales guy a few years ago. he was one of our better sales guys but was not a team player. he continually was at odds with his management and always caused interoffice drama.

At the time we fired him we had other sales guys who were not as good at him retain their positions.

the Drama outweighed the production.

There are more factors than that though. He may not have been clearly better for the price he wanted. The trial should be fascinating. I still think Seattle fell apart because he wanted a big pay day to be a backup.

Wow. Kaepernick settled. Next years Super Bowl performers can do it guilt free.

Guess he shouldn't have opted out of SF when he was going to make 14 million.

Naturally Kap gets the press but Reid is interesting. In tranny they posed that mostly Kap issues made this settlement happen i.e. he made the NFL buckle. Maybe but we need some leaks. Possible hot take? Reid being on a roster and playing all year weakened Kaps case and they settled for likely less than $50M.

PS Some of the board experts will be happy to remind you 40% is going elsewhere.
