And why hasn't he had a job? The NFL sure didn't want the details to come out.

No, he's Ted.

He got all this money and he's going to have to be forced to do the right thing with it.

I love how this spin still persists. He was going to get cut and no one involved disputes this. If he hadn't opted out the same people bashing him for this would instead be saying he screwed himself by waiting to be cut while all the teams in need of quarterbacks already filled their rosters.

All the spin coming from people who largely seemed oblivious to the relative quiet coming from his camp since he did the Nike deal. Which many seemed to take as an almost personal affront. Nevermind that he really has only been running camps and taking part in programs for kids all across the country with little fanfare.

You're right, he probably would have been cut.

I'm going to guess the NFL wanted to settle no matter what. Keep everything out of the public records.

I'm also going to guess size of the paper trail has a direct relationship to the settlement number

If they're specifically paying Kaep that much, that's a pretty huge figure, if it's just the settlement, not as much obviously.

That was a popular theory...that he predicted he would be cut and by kneeling and creating a controversy, he thought SF would be afraid to cut him due to the optics. Obviously we'll never know because he opted out.

The NFL was in a no win situation. They did not want this to drag on, and stay in the news. They risked pissing off a lot of players and taking on a lot of bad press with this lingering.

It certainly says that Kaepernick is happier not playing football.

Some are speculating he's going to be signed by an NFL team real soon.

Unless the NFL was being represented by JDC, there's no way there isn't a provision in that settlement saying he won't seek NFL employment.

That’s the only way this makes any sense. The NFL was not being hurt by his absence.

This is not a "we'll never know" issue. John Lynch has gone on record multiple times about telling Kaepernick he was going to be cut.
