Queen was never a favorite of mine. I saw them live a few times and always thought they put on an incredible show.
This movie was absolutely fantastic without any qualifications.
I totally enjoyed it and recommend it highly.
The fact that they juggled the facts a tad in order to make a more interesting plot means nothing.
This often happens in historical or semi-historical biopics. The changes do no harm.
To criticize it because it toned down the sexual escapades and drug use is wrong.
That would like saying that "Gone With the Wind" was a sub-par film because it lacked nudity.
Judge a film for what it is, not what you wished it had been.

Won Golden Globes for best picture. Rami Malek won best actor

If the movie pushes LGBTQWTFEVER or trashes Republicans it's a sure fire winner.

The only thing good about the movie was the music, everything else was mediocre.

Watched it last night and it was pretty well done. I'd be ok with Malek taking best actor. Seemed like he was fighting with the prosthetic teeth a lot but maybe those were tics that Mercury had. Pretty crazy how some people just kind of come from nowhere and become so doused on becoming something special. They don't get too deep into his disease or anything really but makes for an easy watch. Don't think it should win for best movie.

I liked it, but the problem was the singing. It was hard for me to believe he was signing, when it was clearly Freddie's vocals. I would be interested in knowing how close Rami was or how he actually sounded.

Going to watch this tonight. Been waiting for it to have the "Rent" option for weeks OnDemand.

Malek not actually singing reminds me of the movie, "Selena".

Jennifer Lopez lip synched all the songs in that picture. I questioned it until I looked it up on the Google Machine. I thought Lopez was a very good singer? I'm sure it wasn't her call. It was relatively early in her career.

Anyway - can't wait to see this Rhapsody tonight.

I watched it finally and it was fine. Nothing special for me other than learned a few things. Playing Freddie must be hard and he seemed to do a good job but I really don't know how he really was. I guess I learned from this I really didn't know much at all about Queen until the last years. That manipulative gay day to day manager was a thing though huh?

The re-creation of the Live Aid performance was spot on and made me go back and watch the actual one. Fred Mercury was the fucking shit, man

Yeah even the clothes. It really made me think wow that was a thing and also geez so long ago. Getting old. One thing I sort of got form the movie was there really wasn't some large moral or message outside of family forever within the band. Afterward I read more of the real account and Freddie never left or the band never officially broke up so there wasn't a reunion.

He also didn't know he had AIDS until after Live Aid...but they needed that element so that the concert could be a satisfying conclusion.

That performance was plain awesome. It was one of those moments you wish you were there live not just watching it on TV.
I didn't really get into Queen until Highlander. Then wow I got all their stuff on vinyl,Wish I still had half my old collection.

Got around to watching this during the weekend. Really enjoyed the movie. Seemed a bit rushed but it's a fun time and was left with a smile once the credits started rolling. It was funny when my wife kept getting surprised this song and that song were written by Queen.

The movie is on HBO if you're a subscriber.
