Can we say it like we mean it?

Will it it be a young current Score guy? Matty, Holmes, Goff?

A shift in slots? Mulley and Handley? B + B? Patrick? Murph?

A blast from the past? Danny Mac? Memelo?

Or somebody new? ________________________

When you replace a "legend" like North, I think you have to aim high. Some in the past have said they wanted a Imus type non sports guy. A Dahl or Matthews. I think North failed at that approach and Scoreheads jhave shown they dont want that. I hope Score Management throws the money at someone that deserves it. I hope they stick with sports.

My preference would be Bob Costas. Its a stretch but maybe he's ready to settle down. He's a pro and thats what that slot needs. I know it wont happen.

The safe bet will be Murphy, Mulley and Handley, or B + B.

Maybe a Bernsie solo show which I'd hate.

Possibly the Dan Patrick show.

Heres my choices-

If I can have anyone? Bob Costas. Instant respect and credibility to a station that has none.

Longshot? Danny Mac ( I do not know his contract situation)

Probably will be? Murph and Fred. Was good enough before.

Mulley and handley are writers and WILL NOT get up that early.

Patrick's show runs from 8-11 AM Central, so you'd still need something before that.

Mac is on contract until 2010.

The Score will replace North with Bruce Wolf.

Here's the thing, North contract is up in July and Terrys I think in August, so maybe the score throws Murph on Mornings for a few months and if Terry decides to walk, then I could see Bernsie doing mornings, with or without a host.

Costas is gonna give up his high positions on Network TV to do a local morning show in Chicago. C'mon.

He does Sundays during the football seasons. He probably gets 4 million just to do that.

Why would he want to work 5 days a week for 1.5 million?

Mully and Hanley, I don't know how they're doing it now, with both doing beat assignments for the Sun-Times. You give either of them a longer show, and they're going fulltime.

1) I heard M&H do the drive-in slot one morning, and they fit well, I thought. Murph's done the slot before and has had success there, even though the frantic pace of the show throws him off-kilter and makes him edgey.

2) Any new guy, they'd put in the slot evacuated by Murph and/or Mully/Hanley. In terms of pure safety, I'd put 'em in the 12-2 slot, given as how the Tirico/Van Pelt competition I see as pretty soft.

3) Morning drive is too big a slot to trust to someone untried. It'll be one of the vets.

4) I don't understand the notion of Terry's contract coming up, that folks assume he's not coming back. Why is he not coming back? He's going to retire to do sportstalk in the Florida Keys?

5) Bernstein without a partner is not going down. Those of you who have heard him do solo shows should know this: he becomes overburdened, and becomes just another talking head.

Memelo. That's funny. Mac mentioned him the other day, and I finally remembered a weekend show they did together in the 1160 days. They had a very good dynamic. You want something good to replace Harry with, I give you Jimelo. THAT'd be a fun listen.

Costas? Patrick? What?!? Both of those boys have their network/syndicate deals. Not happening; not for a local Chicago gig.

Murph and Fred might call for an apology to every person that ever posted on the boards.

Not only was the call made that they show would not work, but the Anne Wells experiment would be a total flop.

How is it that 50-100 listeners see it so clearly yet, a guy or a team of people , who get paid some big coin can't see through the bullshit?

It'll be a tall order, but I have one guy who is no stranger to hosting morning drive if 670 "The SCORE" FINALLY gets rid of Mike North & Fred Huebner once and for all. He is Brian "The Whipping Boy" Paruch, who is used to waking up early & has been waking up Chicago sports fans Saturday mornings on SportsRadio 670 for a few months now, in addition to his duties relieving George Ofman at the update desk. While I've heard other "SCORE" hosts refer to Brian as "The King" for reasons I'm not sure of, he's "The Whipping Boy" based on what he did for over a decade on the FM side working with the likes of Mancow & Pete McMurray in morning drive there. Brian would likely have to give up his part time music gig at 101.9 "The MIX", but he's quite a sports fan and trust me, "The SCORE" has no place to go but up in morning drive... I would nominate Paruch, Laurence Holmes & possibly Zach Zaidman for a new look, new sound in mornings, with Matt Abbatacola & Jason Goff's "Last Call" on nights the White Sox don't play, or once the Sox season ends...Just a thought or two...

Paruch and Abbatacola, with Offman doing updates and being the third wheel host. Name the show "First Call" and you got yourself a new morning show.

"Simmer" down Beardown. I was wishing for Costas. I know it wont happen. I was only saying if for some fucked up reason he didnt want to do the national gig anymore. Maybe settledown and earn millions less to do a radio gig and live life doing WORLD TOURS.

Maybe Costas can take Norths gig and North could take Costas's Gig.

Either as dumb as stones, or not secure in their positions to make and make stick a momentous decision. I'd hate being in such a position, that I'm deathly afraid of doing what I was hired to do...

He's called the "King" because his last name, Paruch, rhymes with
King Farouk former king of Egypt. Likewise Mike Bloomberg is the
"Mayor" because of NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg, and Dave Kerner
was the "Governor" because of former IL governor Otto Kerner.

Paruch as one of the young'uns who'd take over either M/H or Murph's slot, depending how who is given morning drive, could work very well.

What makes any of you think North's getting a heave-ho, though? I mean, it's possible he sets up shop in Vegas and does a syndicated odds show, but there's still enough people intrigued with this guys potential, including I imagine CBS/Score.

To a 58 year old guy sitting behind a desk all day a night out with Mike North is the most exciting thing most of these guys have done in 20 years.

So when Mike meets the suits, they are intrigued with him and figure that will translate to everyone else loving his stories about some other loser who grew up on Ridge Road and now has a business.

Mike knows what a loser he is. I am sure he always thought the money and fame would take care of that, now as he aprades around like a goofball, with his money, no kids and wearing his stupid Score jacket, people just laugh at him.

As much as boon that it would be for the station, it is too brilliant for any suit to put in place.

Oh yes, quite. I'm to the point I'll take anyone over North.
I am also hoping for a 3-4 hour Mully and Hanley Show sometime during the broadcast day.

Meatpants would work. He's sharp. Knows sports well. He really knows baseball.

Score had him as a back up and did nothing with him. Look at the bench they have now. C'mon. Meatpants is better than all of them.

Dunno if the Spanish community can bring in the ratings WSCR would want for a morning drive.

I think it would be cost effective for the Score to get Dan Patrick.

In fact, Patrick's company would probably pay the Score. They'd make it up cuz they would hike up the price of Patrick's national commercials because they gained the Chicago market.

That's what they are doing at night with Patrick. I'm sure of it. Patrick's company pays the Score to air his taped show.

Thanks for all the support guys but I still have dreams of being a rocker and a regular morning gig won't allow it.

Bernstein solo with a more general talk format. I would love to hear the callers when Dan gives his thoughts on politics and social issues. I think that would be great radio.
