It’s crazy to me that you are so black and white about stats determining the better player in a relatively small sample size (one season) when there are several seasons of data to look at between players and neither are declining.

Im not bashing it on just stats. That just happens to be the best argument.

That post was referencing you saying LeBron wasn’t better than Russ when Russ won mvp.

I didn't say that I said if he was better than he was better you later that said no everybody said LeBron is better so in that case that LeBron was better it's not just about the stats

Here is the argument broken down though I believe that if you are better than another player over the course of a season that's enough to make the case that you are better currently you don't believe that you think that you need to look more into the history I just disagree

Excuse the long run on sentences as I am voice posting

Can rpb make sweet love to a lonely Internet stranger? Asking for a PA based friend.

Correct, you are a drunk.

By tour logic Karl Malone, who won not one but two MVP awards between 1996-1997 and 1998-1999 was a better player than Michael Jordan.

Surely I hope that’s not what you believe.

Tour logic? Ok, Otis. Have another shot.

If I was only basing it on MVP voting, you'd have a point.

Statistically, Betts was better last year. That alone is enough to make a case he's better.

Statistically it’s debateable who had a better 2018 season. Trout was league leader in OPS, OPS+.

You cited the 9.7 WAR in 2016 which would have been a step down for Trout in that year.

In fact, Trout’s worst WAR of the last seven years was 7.3. Betts has been higher than 7.3 a whopping total of twice.

OK you're spinning a bit since Trout has more seasons plates and the 9.7 reference was in regards to FF claiming it was some career tear that Betts has never been near.

I believe that if player A is better than player B in the most recent season played than a case can be made player A is better at the moment.

You disagree. That's cool.

As far as Malone Jordan, I don't think Malone has better stats. That was more of a "were tired of giving it to MJ type thing"

Given that Trout had a higher OPS it’s highly debatable that Betts (in a career year) had a better season than Trout (in a ho hum average year).

I don't follow the NBA

He had better stats. I think basically everyone on Earth who follows the nba would say LeBron was better.

Well them he wasn't better.

Most people who follow MLB would say Betts was better than Trout in 2018

Well them (sic).

Yea, but the 10 points of OPS is made up by the base running and gold glove Mookie has.

Calling it a career year is disingenuous. His 2016 was close and he's a young superstar player coming into his own.

"A career year" is a guy having an unexpected great year. Mike Bilecki going 18-6 or Estaban Loaiza winning 21. All indications are that Mookie will continue to be great.

As I said, Im just saying there is now a debate and Trout has competition. I understand you are a Trout superfan, but Betts is now in the conversation.

I could give or take Trout. The issue is that it is beyond insanity to say Mookie Betts is the best player in baseball or that he is close to Mike Trout. Come back to me when he’s done this for seven straight years.

Yea, that's insane. So if he wins 5 straight MVP's, he is still two years away from even being considered as good as Trout?

You're just wrong. Betts was better than Trout last season, so it's obviously possible he's better than him right now and possible he is better going forward.

Oh and Abreu is better than Konerko, too. Numbers don't lie.

Fine, get back to me in five years instead of seven.

I'm sure he'll progress past Trout like Malone and Barkley progressed past Jordan and Durant and Westbrook progressed past James.

What does Abreu/Konerko have to do with Trout and Betts? Cubs fan deflecting? Or just bitter and angry?

Both are better than juiced Mark Grace and Rizzo.

Bitter and angry?

No, that's just another example of you refusing to accept the reality of the numbers.

But no need to be angry or combative. We just disagree.

So for real, how many seasons would Mookie have to do what he did last year for you to consider him in the conversation. 5 more years?

Trout is the best player in baseball. Paulie was better than Abreu. Truth always wins.

Sox look to be moving Moancada to 3rd to free up 2nd for Madrigal in the future.

Hopefully they know what they're doing. But based on track record I think that's unlikely.

Is that a sign that they are not optimistic on Machado, or he is slotted for SS?

I'd assume they aren't getting Machado but who knows. It might be negotiating. You never can tell with the White Sox.

The Padres offer better be miles ahead of anything the Sox offered if he’s going to sign and play in that ballpark. His stats will fucking blow . All things being equal from a hitters standpoint no way can you sign with SD.

First off, you're wrong about low ball offer. It was the only real offer for 4 months.

Second off, you're wrong about me eating it up. I said early on it was a pipe dream.

That wasn't the offer. Was 7 for $225M.
