Yeah and they offered 8 years. Perhaps no player option to elect free agency was in the contract. Padres' offer supposedly has an opt-out after 5 years.

Lavine already talked to Mr Reinsdorph 3 weeks ago, he said it was 7 years and would not " bid against themselves". That 8-250 is hogwash
