Forget the fact that the usual suspects jumped on their soap boxes right away....this story from the get go didn't pass the smell test. Then he had the balls to go on a TV show and dig his grave further.

I'm not doing a victory lap on this one, but I'm pretty amazed at how it's unfolded and following it closely.

Is there more fake hate crimes than actual ones?

It was too preposterous to believe at all. But I never thought it would be this bad. I just figured he got his ass beat in an embarrassing way and then made up a stupid story. Who would have thought the guy just invented a hate crime out of whole cloth? And then he went on TV and got indignant about it. He's a real piece of shit who deserves ZERO sympathy. I'm sure he thought the letter was a nice touch, but it's probably the thing that's going to put him in prison.

The victims are the American People and the Republic itself.

He's a guy who obviously has some pretty serious emotional and mental health issues regardless of what he did.

There certainly are a lot of high profile fake hate crimes. I doubt anyone has ever pulled a hijab except maybe the broad's husband when he was beating the shit out of her for raising her eyes for a split second.

The "Hate Crime" should be axed. It's a crime or it's not. Oh, you got stabbed and the stabber called you a burrito ..well that's a hate crime and he gets 10 more years.

Only in an America in which matters of race are not as utterly irredeemable as we are often told could things get to the point that someone would pretend to be tortured in this way, acting oppression rather than suffering it, seeking to play a prophet out of a sense that playing a singer on television is not as glamorous as getting beaten up by white guys. That anyone could feel this way and act on it in the public sphere is, in a twisted way, a kind of privilege, and a sign that we have come further on race than we are often comfortable admitting.

A "hate crime" is the same concept as a terrorism though, which ironically may be what gets Jussie put in jail.

If there were a serial killer targeting Muslims, would that be any worse or more outrageous/chilling than a killer targeting, say, Cubs fans? Why should one group's lives be considered more valuable in terms of the punishment against the killer?
