Everybody knew from the start he was getting a 10-300.. Harper turned one down from Washington. It's so rare for 26 year old stars to be FA that somebody would give them that.

I don't think that is quite accurate, but you are missing the bigger point.......Machado was given a huge offer by the Sox, they signed his brother in-law and friend already, yet he waits and waits for another offer, because the thought of playing for the Sox was still unappealing.

How is it confusing. Guy goes to auction to buy a car. The reserve is 75,000 and guy bids 15,000. It's a low ball offer and guy knows seller will not sell it for 15,000.

I've offered and paid less than the list price each time.

I also accepted a price below the list price when selling.

Very few teams are even offering half of this. The White Sox are negotiating against literally one other team- at most- but in your opinion they should offer nearly $40million per season because some dopey Cubs fans on the internet say so.
