New York didn't even have a death penalty at the time. Suppose one of those kids or all, would have been executed. Then what? Suppose one of them would have been killed in jail after being falsely accused.

The article addresses the scientific evidence. It was a different era, and that type of evidence was not tracked like it is today. So much of it was lost.

Let's say they did not attack that particular jogger, they were involved in serious assaults in Central Park that same night. The criminal justice system is pretty terrible, but let's not pretend these were innocent honor roll students who were arrested only because they were black. They were likely involved. They threatened the primary person behind the rape into recanting his story to say they weren't. And then they fleeced the tax payers for millions.

Originally, when the approach was nearly completely hands-off—like when I made a stink about doxxing and the reply was "we want you to police yourselves"—then no, I don't think anyone should be banned but for the most egregious, "know it when I see it" offenses.
