Theriot was better than Almora.

But he was in no way better than Baez. Baez was a legit MVP candidate. Theriot could never come close to that.

Baez and Theriot are different kinds of players, but getting on base at .310 isn't good. He has more power. Maybe he'll be a perennil MVP candidate. It's not something I'd bet on. He strikes me as a journeyman.

He's on the team with the most wins in baseball the last 4 years. At bats aren't easy to get, Theriot was still at lsu at this age and AA is going into year 3 of pro ball.

No doubt they are different. The only thing Theriot does better than Baez is OBP. Everything else is for Baez. I am not saying Baez is a MVP candidate every year....he may never reach that level again...but even if he doesn't he is better overall than Theriot.

Almora is a guy who the best manager in history doesn't trust to start. He can't beat out Ian Happ. He gets on base less than Theriot and slugs just a little more even while only playing in carefully selected spots.
