Which recent Cub first rounder outside of Bryant do you think is better than Theriot?

Almora, Baez

Uh, no.

I need one early first rounder to be more productive than a journeyman.

I guess I'm unfair like that.

I am not sure, the game of baseball has seen a hitter like MAdrigal, if he plays like he played in college.

It's not that easy though.

And hey, I'm not defending the Sox front office. There have been a lot of busts- Anderson, Burger, Fulmer, all those football players, Royce Fucking Ring. It would be nice to get a guy like Theriot.

Another Chris Sale would be nice.

Right. Fuck Theriot, if Madrigal is that then it’s a terrible pick. That other first round picks are somehow even worse doesn’t justify it.

I know it isn't easy but you'd think by sheer luck one would hit.

So fucking what. If it was easy, one of us idiots could do it. That’s an acceptable excuse to you?

Uh, no.

Theriot was better than Almora.

But he was in no way better than Baez. Baez was a legit MVP candidate. Theriot could never come close to that.

He's not even better than Almora, let's call the bats a tie, AA is a great glove, RT was below avg defensively.

After this season is over in November Albert will be the same age as Theriot when he made his Mlb debut.

I don't think you can call the bats a tie.

If anything overall it is a tie. Almora better glove. Theriot better bat.

Don't be ridiculous. Almora is a three year guy who has never held a full-time job.

Great.

Madrigal will be somewhere between a journeyman starter and one dimensional utility man.

Solid use of the 4th overall pick.

Baez and Theriot are different kinds of players, but getting on base at .310 isn't good. He has more power. Maybe he'll be a perennil MVP candidate. It's not something I'd bet on. He strikes me as a journeyman.

Like I said, it's not easy. That's why you don't scrub your team when you have Eaton and Sale.

He's on the team with the most wins in baseball the last 4 years. At bats aren't easy to get, Theriot was still at lsu at this age and AA is going into year 3 of pro ball.

And fuck you people for getting me back to thinking about the staggering ineptitude of the White Sox front office.

Lol Jorr, just answer this.

You want Nick madrigal to be Baez or Theriot?

No doubt they are different. The only thing Theriot does better than Baez is OBP. Everything else is for Baez. I am not saying Baez is a MVP candidate every year....he may never reach that level again...but even if he doesn't he is better overall than Theriot.

"Upside." Then Madrigal has more "upside" than God.

Almora is a guy who the best manager in history doesn't trust to start. He can't beat out Ian Happ. He gets on base less than Theriot and slugs just a little more even while only playing in carefully selected spots.

You must not be talking about Ryan Theriot.

Mr. I hate walks is all of a sudden an obp guy? Maddon is most likely getting canned in 11 months, a major reason is his ludicrous lineup swaps.

Yeah, Theriot at Almoras age currently was playing at LSU.

 I don't hate walks as part of an offense. I think the strategy makes the game terribly boring.

Anyway, Madrigal isn't a guy who walks. Truth be told, a better comp for him is probably Starlin Castro with a little less power.

So now Maddon sucks? You guys need to make up your minds. Do you want me to use the search function to bring up you slurping his balls when he was hired?

What does that mean? Are you expecting huge improvement from Almora?
