He's similar to Adam Engel but Cub fans think he's better than Adam Jones.

Right now, he's more like Henry Cotto. Good defender, good against LH pitching, will play for over a decade in the league.

His upside is Garry Maddox, but he's got to get there soon. The DH coming to the NL would help, as then he could bat 9th against RHP and 1st against LHP.

No. I don't care about him

Interesting.

Career numbers:

Adam Engel .260/.314/.574

Albert Almora .326/.412/.738

Adam Jones .318/.456/.774

Which two are more alike?

 You left their number of plate appearances out. I'm gonna say when the careers are in the books it will be apparent that what I said was correct.

Interesting strategy, always kick the can down the road where you can't be proven completely wrong until a decade later. Like Quintana

Maybe but right now, Almora and Engel are not comparable in any way.

 Sure they are.

They are both part time players/platoon guys who would easily start 130+ games in CF every year if they were better hitters.

Except they arent, at all.

But I will keep in mind that you believe OBP of .275 and .330 are similar. And .289 and .207 for batting average.

You are having just a TERRIBLE 2019 with baseball posts.

And I'm going to say those numbers will be a lot closer after the 2019 season.

I was against that trade from day one, but he's better than a .500 pitcher..you were wrong. Look at his W-L record with a competent organization.

Ok, so you are expecting a big jump from Engel.

Im talking about right now.

Adam Engle is a full time player and probably experiences a reduction in his stats because he is not protected from those who can best manipulate his difficulties

No. I'm expecting a marginal jump from Engel and a marginal decline from Almora (once his at-bats aren't hand-selected by "Genius" Joe Maddon).

Because Engel pretty much is.

A platoon guy on a team that wins 90 every year vs a team that loses 90 every year is not close to the same thing.

The 2018 Cubs had 4 outfielders who are starting caliber (at least 1.0 WAR)

The White Sox had zero

Ok, well right now the difference is significant. So marginal changes from both will still have Almora as much better.

Get on the same page on whether he is a starter or not and come back.

Jorr, Would Almora be the best outfielder on the Sox?

We can, but I am making no prediction, your original statement was in the present tense.

Right now, with the numbers they've put up Almora is clearly better than Engel. You wanted to take a shot at Cub fans but it was bad shot, especially since the Almora is much closer to Adam Jones by the numbers.

And the Cubs still have 5 decent outfielders so Almora will still see favorable match ups.

I wasn't arguing about which guy had done more to date. I'm confident in my assessment of their abilities.

Ok, so the Cub fan is talking about what has already happened and the Sox fan is talking about the future and how his guy will improve.

I am not Almoraphile. I think he's a solid MLB starter. A guy who bats 7-9 on a great team.

 It was not relevant to Almora being a platoon player, a point which you agreed with. Which also means you agree that if he were a better hitter overall, he would start MANY more games. Don't come at me with this depth bullshit and 1 WAR outfielders that the Cubs have. This is the same team that had Willlllson Contreres in left field at one point because his bat was so valuable to the lineup.

So as I stated earlier, maybe just maybe Almora isn't as solid a player as you and other Cubs fans think he is.

Again, your failure to recognize the difference between a great team with 5 starting caliber outfielders and a bad team with none is your problem here.

Ill adjust my expectations of your understanding of baseball going forward to avoid this in the future.

No. I'm simply talking about my personal assessment of the players. I think I know who all three guys are and I'm confident one of them is far better than the other two and when the numbers are completed and in the books my assessment will be correct.
