If you say so. I'll have to adjust as well. Generally you are one of the more levelheaded baseball guys here, but its clear you've been dipping into the Cubbie Kool Aid more and more, rogersparKasper.

Another swing and a miss. I never took issue with the label platoon player.

Platoon players are not all equal/comparable.

Yasiel Puig was a platoon player last year.

A platoon player on a great team and a platoon player on a tanking team are worlds apart.

Let's revisit it after the season.

We can, but I am making no prediction, your original statement was in the present tense.

Right now, with the numbers they've put up Almora is clearly better than Engel. You wanted to take a shot at Cub fans but it was bad shot, especially since the Almora is much closer to Adam Jones by the numbers.

And the Cubs still have 5 decent outfielders so Almora will still see favorable match ups.

I wasn't arguing about which guy had done more to date. I'm confident in my assessment of their abilities.

Ok, so the Cub fan is talking about what has already happened and the Sox fan is talking about the future and how his guy will improve.

I am not Almoraphile. I think he's a solid MLB starter. A guy who bats 7-9 on a great team.

No. I'm simply talking about my personal assessment of the players. I think I know who all three guys are and I'm confident one of them is far better than the other two and when the numbers are completed and in the books my assessment will be correct.

You allow yourself and other Sox fans a lot of leeway on things you would kill Cub fans for.

Even in this thread. Cmon! Dont be like Cub fans! They're just being themselves!

Also, as much as some Cub fans love Almora, Ive yet to hear one predict him as a multiple time all star like Adam Jones.

Not sure which part you are asking about but yes. I have never heard a Cub fan predict multiple all star games for Almora. That doesnt mean it doenst exist. You seem to be way more plugged in to unrealistic Cub fans than me.

Only the starters. MLB players themselves pick most of the rosters. SMH.

So children pick the starters and one guy from every team is mandated. Yeah.. it's a joke, like the pro bowl in the NFL. It's no measuring stick of success.

I think the main takeaway from this thread is JORR is in the minority of White Sox fans who understand stats and what they mean. (Hint: 1.0 WAR is good. Negative WAR is bad)

Also, that White Sox fans are as unrealistic as any fan base with their expectations. 75% of 4th overall picks wont be as good as Ryan Theriot.

I know MANY have said that if he isn't more than a journeyman infielder, then that's another indictment on the White Sox front office.

But I haven't seen MANY people saying they expect him to be great.

Do Cub fans get the benefit of the doubt or people taking things in context? Absolutely not.

Reader said he hopes he's Paul Molitor. So now, that is what Sox fans believe he is. That's how it works.

Just like Schwarber = Babe Ruth.

Saying that I hope his closer a comp to Molitor than Theriot is what I said, not putting anyone in the company of all timers like Cubbie fans routinely do.

Sorry, Reader. I dont make the rules.

Exactly ZERO people here made a Schwarber-Ruth comparison.

And no, its not special to Cub fans. All fanbases do it. Including the Sox as evidenced by this thread where they are crying over the prospect of getting a good player (Theriot)

Not ten minutes ago Parkins was talking about many Cubs fans making just that comparison. I laughed and thought that yeah, it happened a bit here.

Zero people made the comparison as far as Schwarber being a Ruth type player

Every fat lefty homerun hitter conjures up images of the Babe. Just like certain guys dunk like MJ.

Regular listeners of 670 The Score are likely familiar with a story that host Matt Spiegel has relayed on air. As it goes, Spiegel was talking to a member of the Cubs’ front office in 2014, discussing first-round pick Kyle Schwarber, who was still in the minors at the time.

During the conversation, the Cubs official referred to Schwarber as “Babe ‘effin Ruth.”

You continue to ruin your reputation as a baseball poster with this non sense.

Ridiculous. No Cub Executive or really any human ever thought Schwarber was going to be the best player that ever lived.

The people pushing this narrative know better, but its fun to pretend Cub fans are a special kind of unrealistic.

I took it as A. I can see why some would want to say B though.

Anyway, hopefully Madrigal turns into Molitor.

 There is not a narrative being pushed. It's literally a quote from a Cubs front office person.

A faction of Cubs fans are quite unrealistic.

You know it's A. I know it's A. Everyone knows it's A.

But sure, we'll go with the Cubs front office guy thought Schwarber was going to be the best player that ever lived. Seems reasonable.

I thought Bernsie told the story as it was Theo or Jed that compared his homers to Babe?

Finally some honesty. Of course it was specifically about his power and not him as an all around player.

Thank you, Michael.

"all around player?" GTFO here with that. Babe was a Hall of Fame pitcher before he even went to the Yankees. You think the CUBS FRONT OFFICE MAN was comparing Schwarber's ability to throw a baseball to Ruth?

No. It was specifically about him being a generational talent of a hitter, and Schwarber has fallen way way way short of that. You are the one continuing to post nonsense here dude.
